「舞鶴市：北吸トンネル (北吸隧道)」 2025年9月にバイクツーリングで立ち寄りました。旧舞鶴鎮守府が整備された明治期に建設された煉瓦造りのトンネルで、舞鶴の軍港史を物語る近代化遺産です。昼間ながら薄暗く少し怖い雰囲気です。 赤煉瓦を用いたアーチ構造が美しく、当時の土木技術の高さを示しています。この北吸地区は鎮守府関連施設が集中した要地であり、このトンネルも軍事・物資輸送や人の往来に利用されました。 築造は明治35年頃と伝えられ、現在も保存状態が良好で、舞鶴赤れんがパーク周辺の散策路の一部として一般に公開されています。 国指定重要文化財「舞鶴赤れんが倉庫群」と並び、軍港都市舞鶴の歴史を象徴する建造物です。
