We visited Akame 48 Waterfalls during Golden Week as a family of five — with three young children aged 2, 5, and 7 — and had an absolutely fantastic experience. Despite it being a peak travel period, the atmosphere was still peaceful and enjoyable.

The weather was perfect, which made the entire hike even more memorable. The trail is well-maintained and surrounded by breathtaking nature, and we were able to complete the full walk to the last waterfall and back at a relaxed pace — even with little kids. The sounds of the river, the lush greenery, and the cool shade made it a comfortable and calming adventure.

One small inconvenience was the parking situation. The main parking lot is quite small, and we had to wait a little while for a spot to become available. Additionally, the lot was a short walk away from the main entrance. However, this turned out to be a nice bonus — we used the opportunity to stroll around the charming local town, which was a lovely experience in itself.

Overall, this was a wonderful family outing and we highly recommend Akame 48 Waterfalls for anyone traveling with children or looking to reconnect with nature. It’s a place where both adults and kids can enjoy the beauty of Japan’s forests and waterfalls in a safe and accessible...

Nature at its best in this summer in Akame48 water falls in Mie prefecture Very cool place with full of greenery. Need to remember the following: As the name itself suggests there are 48 falls from small falls to big water falls. This is a nice trekking place in summer. If you have trekking sticks carry wirh you. Not a must No need to wear any other gear except nice trekking shoes Its about 2 to 3 hours max with moderate walking from the entrance of the valley to the last waterfall GANKUTSU. If you have limited time you can watch these major waterfalls - Fudo falls, Senju falls, Nunobiki falls, Ninai falls and Biwa falls. No need to visit the last waterfall fall named Gankutsu falls in this trekking path Remember there is only one toilet room inside the complete 2 hours walking trail. This toilet room is closer to Senju...

We finished the hike late and the bus was no longer coming. When we tried to request a taxi with our phones the app said that we were too far from any taxis so we asked at this tourism information center for them to call a taxi for us and they were very helpful to get us back to our hotel. The building is beautiful with a view of the river and informational posters (in Japanese). I was very impressed with the kindness of...
