This point of interest is furthest from other park and entrance, we walked around 15 mins from main area to reach, it has several route to walk to this area, some can take considerably longer time as it is like a existing walking trail for the park. The Satsuki and Mei’s house and Dondoko-do is only open to premium ticket holders, it has a tram behind Dondoko-do to fetch visitor up and down the small hills but expect queue as it has limited space within each tram. We come on weekday, we reach here around 3:30pm and queue took around 15 mins, we notice longer queue when we leaving after 4pm, so it seems the more people the later time.

A must go for any Totoro fan. I had been wanting to come here for a long while before the pandemic was over, I'm so glad that it is possible nowadays. You must purchase the ticket ahead online as soon as it's available. Otherwise, there is no way to obtain a ticket to visit this magical place. Leave plenty of time since you will need that for visiting all the exhibitions available here. The house is amazingly close to the actual design in the animation. Shoes must be off inside the house, and there js quite a walk in the forest. If not so into walking, then u may take the tram up or down the hill.

This attraction is the farthest from the entrance amongst the 5 attractions inside Ghibli Park. If you wanted to visit the place, you have an option to walk for 12-15minutes from the Grand Warehouse, or ride the free shuttle bus that runs 2 to 3 times per hour. It also has the least facilities to explore, so I suggest buying the premium pass to at least be able to explore Mei & Satsuki's house. You might also want to consider buying an amulet with a Studio Ghibli design or buy a fan with a totoro design. A minimum of 30 minutes is enough to enjoy Dondoko forest.

In cooler weather, I think the walk would be much more pleasant. After all, in the film Totoro and his friends live deep in the forest, so it’s nice to enter a different world. Satsuki and Mei’s house was fun to explore and relax gazing at the woods. It was the most immersive in terms of feeling like going back in time. It’s a bit far from everywhere else so I would recommend planning your time carefully. But I would love to go strolling around this area on a standalone day and just admire the nature. There are hiking trails and a Japanese garden nearby.

My daughter is a fan… what can i say? We took a 2.5hr train n bullet train, one way. She liked the experience and the tickets were not easy to get from Singapore - online. There is a waiting time and a certain number of allocated tickets online before it gets sold out. We were able to clinch our tickets within 1-hour, of all our 4-family members doing and waiting on a sunday early afternoon (see photo) 😅😅😅😅

Visit Mei and Satsuki’s house! It truly felt like you were in their real house. The interactive experience of going through their notes and rooms and seeing things they would actually write or have in their rooms was incredible. Being in nature and seeing Totoro was also a calm and tranquil experience.
