Took an overnight bus from Kanto region to check out the Nagoya City for the first time and even that bus ride was a real hardcore (night one was brutal lol). Surprisingly, the day ride was much more relaxing because of the entire view from my seating had no curtains at all view covering the whole windows and more natural lights available from outside. Also, I had a blast venturing out at every bus stop at parking site at the expressway rest areas where there's plenty of food trucks, indoor food courts, gifts shop, clean and spacious toilets, vending machines, and smoking areas for those smokers lol. They even had a McDonald, Starbucks, and Baskin Robbin Ice Cream shop! A+ Osu Shotengai Shopping street in beautiful Nagoya City has abundance of shops, restaurants, and more lol. Definitely a fun place to explore either on solo or with a family or friends. Compared to Osaka and other popular "Shotengai," this place offersre rare and unique tour experience. They even have maid cafe, maid band, and tons of restaurants. Btw, the donuts vending machine caught me offguard they all look delicious. As an American, I noticed right away once I got off the bus (mind you, this was like 06:00a.m.) I was clueless for about 2 minutes. Once you start walking towards the main Nagoya train station, about a few minutes you can easily locate the Internet Cafe Mambo (if you are interested in taking a quick shower they also come with a bath towel, 300 yen). Once you enter the main train station building you can locate a spacious clean toilet. Once you look around, there's a vending machine and also the coin locker available if you have luggage (400 yen all day). In most cases, the business hotels you more than likely booked prior to your arrival will take your luggage before you check in too so I would highly recommend you confirm that with the hotel staff. As you further walk passing the clean toilet, vending machine, and coin locker you will next find a McDonald. More than likely it will be crowded being the only place opened that early in the morning. I charged my phone and had a quick breakfast there. Once you continue walking in the Nagoya Station, you will come across the JR train, subway, and bus signs. While subway system is convenient, I chose the terminal bus route. Why? Because the #11 City Terminal bus stop, located under the basement you can purchase a one day unlimited bus ride ticket (500 yen on a weekday and a little more on weekends, pay as you get in with a cash). This bus will take you all the places on your general bucket lists like Toyota museum, Nagoya Castle, Science museums, and several amazing places easily back and forth. DO NOT rent a car or come to Nagoya City driving a car from other prefectures. One, it's hard to find a parking space and even then, it could get pricey! Also, people drive fast here lol. No offense lol. Be prepared to walk a lot, get a nice pair of sneakers and a light back pack. Big Camera building right across the Nagoya station, passing the big taxi lot, you can go in there and check out plenty of restaurants, game corner, electronic shop, food court/restaurants, and toilets (basement floor only). One of the floor, I can't remember exactly but had a bunch of toys, anime, and figurines (Star Wars, DC Comic, and more) for last minute shoppers before taking the long distant bus ride. Now, going back to the Osu Street Shotengai area. Let's say you pass there and walk towards the main streets there are plenty of shopping district you can't miss out. Bars, restaurants, izakayas, and park. Nagoya City people are very fashionable and it's just fun exploring and checking out the scenery lol. One of the building had a major discount store called the Book Off. Jump Comic with a special anime goods try a google search for tourists looking to shop discount Anime items, clothing, music, and variety of rare items you can only find here in Japan. Enjoy the food and amazing vibe of this beautiful Nagoya City!

Nestled in the heart of Nagoya, Osu Shopping District is a captivating blend of history, culture, and modernity that left me enchanted from the moment I stepped into its charming streets. Osu is a living testament to Nagoya's rich history, with traditional architecture and a nostalgic ambiance that effortlessly transports you to the Edo period. Walking through its historic lanes feels like a journey through time, offering a genuine glimpse into Japan's past. The shopping experience in Osu is nothing short of extraordinary. From traditional kimono stores to modern manga boutiques, the district caters to every taste. Each shop, whether it's an antique treasure trove or a contemporary craft haven, contributes to the diverse and unique offerings that make Osu truly special. The nearby Osu Kannon Temple adds a spiritual touch to the district, standing tall for over seven centuries. 🍜 Culinary Delights: The culinary journey in Osu is as delightful as the shopping experience. From hidden gem eateries to street food stalls, Osu offers an array of authentic Japanese flavors. My taste buds were treated to a symphony of local delicacies that made the visit all the more memorable. What sets Osu apart is its tranquil and less crowded ambiance. Unlike some commercial districts, Osu allows you to explore its treasures at your own pace. It's a haven where you can lose yourself in the charm of the surroundings without the hustle and bustle, making it a true gem in the heart of Nagoya. In conclusion, Osu Shopping District is more than just a shopping destination; it's a journey through time and culture. Whether you're a history enthusiast, a passionate shopper, or a food lover, Osu has something to offer for everyone.

During our visit to Nagoya, we had the chance to explore Osu Shopping Street, an area that offers a unique blend of traditional and modern Japanese culture. This shopping street is vibrant and full of energy, offering everything from food stalls and local delicacies to pharmacies and arcades. We were particularly charmed by the mix of old and new, as ancient temples sit alongside modern shops, creating a fascinating contrast. As we walked through the bustling street, our kids were immediately drawn to the arcades, particularly one with a claw machine full of adorable Cinnamoroll plush toys. It was a fun challenge trying to catch one, and even though we didn’t manage to win, the excitement of trying brought smiles all around. The arcade staff were friendly and even offered some tips, which made the experience even more enjoyable for our kids. The food stalls along Osu Shopping Street are a highlight of the visit. We sampled various street foods, including delicious karaage, and our kids loved the sweet treats on offer. There’s something for everyone, whether you’re looking for a quick snack or a more substantial meal. The variety and quality of food available are impressive, making this a great spot for food lovers. Osu Shopping Street is a must-visit for anyone in Nagoya, especially if you’re traveling with family. The mix of cultural sites, shopping, and entertainment options ensures that everyone in the family can find something they enjoy. Our kids had a blast, and we left with great memories and a few fun souvenirs. Highly recommend a visit if you’re in the area!

This is probably the longest (or biggest) shopping street in Nagoya and it's a great place to visit as there are so many things to see, eat and shop. It's a short walk from Osu Kannon train station. There are many shops and eateries and surely there will be something that meet your needs and wants. Besides lifestyle products and local souvenirs, there are fashion and clothings, toys, florist, candies and sweets etc, among others here like Daiso and Seria. Also, there are second hand shops selling used fashion and the Japanese traditional costumes, the Kimono, watches, handbags etc. Prices here are generally reasonable and cheaper than elsewhere. As we were there on a Sunday, everywhere was very crowded. Besides those mentioned above, you can also visit the Osu Kannon Guanyin Temple towards the end of the street, another iconic landmark that worth a photostop! Do make sure you allocate sufficient time here!

Recommend to not drive as parking was expensive 20mins 200yen. Check out the rates before you park. The car lock activates once you park in the lot. It was our first time there and we thought to park first and do the google translate on the sign board. We realised the carpark opposite was cheaper at 30mins 220yen and wanted to shift but the car was already locked. We thought we will be in and out quickly but ended up spending 4200yen on parking. 😭😭😭 Daughter found her prefect tote right here. Many leather shops here and there was one who will customise for you if you choose the leather and buckle. Or you can choose from the standard and get it cut to size ( in length) for you. Many thrift shops abound. The shopping area is big and quite nice to shop in.

With its covered arcades and blend of contemporary and traditional stores, Nagoya's Osu Shopping Street provides a bustling and delightful strolling experience. The food stalls stood out, especially those with large queues, which indicated their popularity, even though many establishments didn't have anything that tempted me to buy. You can try some of the local street food and snacks there. You might find some hidden treasures or better bargains in the side streets if you have the time to explore. Even if you're not there to buy much, the lively environment makes the trip worthwhile for the experience. It's perfect for taking leisurely walks, observing people, and sampling delectable snacks as you go.
