I stayed here because a YouTuber reccomended it. Kinagawa Onsen is in a rural area which isn't the issue but all the businesses close at 5 pm. There is one Lawson and it's a long walk from the hotel. The hotel was probably awesome when it first opened. But it's run down and dated now. Which wouldn't be such a big deal if it wasn't SO EXPENSIVE for what you get. The jackets in our room (yukata and etc) were stained. The furniture is in poor shape. But at least the toilet is nice. The breakfast was also expensive for what you get. However...the view is absolutely beautiful if you book a river view room (which is what I booked) but the windows are so dirty you can't really enjoy it. The public onsen has a sauna and hot tub which is cool. But it's not clean enough. We booked the private onsen and there are no toiletries provided. How is someone supposed to have a nice experience if they feel gross sitting in that water. The private onsens are also not on the property but require a walk. That is not a big deal. But not being able to wash myself and my hair before getting in the bath really bothers me. Also there is no wifi in the hotel! Only in the lobby. Just absolutely disappointment in the hotel and the youtuber that convinced me to visit. The town is dead too. Abandoned and over grown structures around the hotel as well. The only nice thing about this place is the view. Sorry. Renovate at the very least and get a better breakfast and maybe I will consider...
Read moreI was honestly a bit scared of staying here because of the recent reviews, but glad I stick with it because our Japanese Room with the river view was amazing.
The room was spacious enough for the three of us and wow, the view was amazing. We also got lucky and were facing the uphill area. Was able to see the train moving as well and the bridge nearby. Just amazing view overall.
Breakfast was also good. They have plenty of choices for Japanese version and Western was good enough. The bread was really nice.
I wasnât able to use the onsen unfortunately due to some timing issues, but it looked like it was nice since people went there for the onsen.
Now back to the room, despite the nice view and spacious living, there were some minus points.
The futon was really thin and it kinda hurt our body since its almost like sleeping on the floor.
The bathroom was nice. I do like the shower but they didnât give us bottled body soap, shampoo and conditioner, only sachet, which was surprisingâŠ
Service was...
Read moreDo NOT come to this hotel: Location: 20 walking from both train stations. There is supposed to be a shuttle bus but if you want to use it, itâs not available. Room: old japanese style room, smells like tobacco, full with dust and hairs. The cleaning service consists of a almost 90 year old women wo makes the bed. No cleaning. Personal: if you travelled through Japan you probably already know that almost no one speaks English. But here they donât even try. Not helpful. Hiking: if you want to hike around the area, thatâs definitely not a good place. The good hikes are around Mt Nantai, to get there you need 2 trains and one bus, almost 2 hours. Onsen: my first one in Japan, cannot compare, but not renovated. They offer âprivateâ onsen, another building 5 min walking. Do not do it. Dirty, old, not worth it. Food: we didnt try anything. There are 2 restaurants near by, Cafe De Sol and Hinji , theyâre very good.
