Jan 2, 2025 Small but very scenic. Every photo turns out like a postcard. Very small with just one straight strip compared to other bigger onsen towns like Kusatsu Onsen. Easily walkable in 30-45 mins max. No need to stay overnight unless you are crazy about seeing the town being lit up at night.

Visitors are mostly Asian foreigners and not many Japanese locals at all. It can be slightly crowded and a bit disorderly but still tolerable. Almost all hotels are closed to same-day bathing, only allowing overnight...

Ginzan Onsen is beautiful for sure but you can no longer drive here. You have to park the car at the souvenirs shop and take the shuttle bus there. Shuttle bus is often so don't worry too much for waiting. If you want to visit after 4pm, you'll have to make a reservation otherwise you won't be allowed.

The slope down to the actual village is full of ice and slippery. Please wear...
