The shrine is famous throughout the Kanto region as a place to remove all directions. There are several parking lots in the vicinity. During normal times, you can park anywhere, but during the Hatsumode (New Year's visit) season, the roads in the vicinity are completely blocked. Parking at the shrine is free, but during the Hatsumode season, temporary private parking lots are set up all around the area. If you do not pay for parking during the Hatsumode season, you will probably lose a lot of time. There are stores selling souvenirs in one corner of the approach to the shrine and in the second parking lot. Not only shrine-related items, but also Shonan souvenirs are available. By public transportation, it is about a 5-minute walk from Miyayama Station on the Sagami Line. Shuttle buses are available from Hon Atsugi and Ebina during the Hatsumode season.

Went there on New Year’s Eve 2023 after 1:00am. Heavy traffic. Parking space felt it was organized by Yakuza - very expensive. Buttakuri! Food kiosks felt were syndicated! Though the experience is unique. It was super cold, and many people had come to do their New Year wishes and prayers, I give 3 stars because of the way parking and food kiosks were organized. Through the shrine is old, the gate is illuminated with neon lights, and that did not make it feel old!

One of the oldest shrines in eastern Japan. Tens of thousands of people visit this shrine during the first 3 days of the year. This shrine is a holy place to get rid of your bad luck and to invite good fortunes from all directions. You write your name and address, so that a shinto priest can read them and wish your good luck. After the purification process, you can also visit the sacred garden to admire the beautiful view with a cup of matcha tea.

八方除で唯一の神社。神様も謎を秘めてるらしい。昔からお世話になっている神社。 レイラインにある神社でパワースポットとの事。2024年は本日やっと正式参拝出来ました。テレビで取り上げられて沢山の参拝客だったらしい。節分の数日後に来たけど、当座式以降は御祈祷出来ないとの事で、本日（3/8）にやっと参拝出来ました。テレビの影響はもの凄いようで、授与品なども売切れ続出で、なかなか手に入らない。御祈祷の際は、行く前に連絡して確認するのが良いと思います。普段の正式参拝の時は感じなかったが、今回は肩がズンと重くなり、多くの方々の祈り、願いの気持ちが沢山あるようで、念が渦巻いているような感じがした！皆さんがお幸せになれるように祈念いたします。 The only shrine in Happoyoke. I don't feel it when I usually visit the shrine officially, but this time I felt a heavy feeling on my shoulders, and it seemed like there were many people's prayers and wishes, and I felt like my thoughts were swirling around me! I pray that everyone will be happy.

寒川の誇りです。本当に素晴らしい神社。社殿は壮大で厳か。全国でも珍しい方位除の祈祷を行っている神社です。相模国一の宮という格式の高い神社でもあります。 私は昔学生時代ここでお正月にアルバイトをしていましたが超有名芸能人の方も来ていたりしていました。 ノーベル化学賞を受賞された吉野彰氏もこちらに参拝していたと、インタビューに答えていました。 近隣だけではなく遠方からの参拝の方も多いです。 初詣はかなり混みあいます。参拝に数時間待ちということもありますので初詣で行くなら朝早くに行くなどを時間をずらすのをお勧めします。地元の友人は時期をずらして1月中盤以降に参拝していました。 またこちらで御祈祷を受けるなら実は３月以降がお勧め。 ３月以降に御祈祷を受けると御祈祷を受けた人だけが入苑を許される神嶽山神苑を拝観することができます。 こちらの神嶽山神苑は3月から12月の月曜日以外に観られることから、お正月シーズンに御祈祷を受けにくると観ることができません。 御祈祷を受けるならお正月、という気持ちもわかりますけど３月以降に御祈祷を受けて神苑を観てみるのも素晴らしい体験だと思います。 神苑が色づくシーズンには神苑を観るために御祈祷を受ける、という方もいるみたいです。 また流鏑馬が行われたり、浜降祭にもお神輿が出ます。 浜降祭で当日の深夜にお神輿が出発し、真夜中の寒川の町をお神輿が練り歩きながら茅ヶ崎の海を目指すのは見応えがありますよ！ また境内には噴水と鯉がたくさんいる池があるので参拝後はこちらでまったりがお勧め。 無料駐車場がありますがお正月シーズンは混み合ってもちろん期待しないでください。 近隣の地主が一回千円の臨時駐車場を開くのでそちらを使用することになると思います。 シーズンを外せば平日ならば基本無料駐車場が利用できると思います。 一月中は土日に来るということならば朝早く来るなどした方が無難。あとは運次第で無料駐車場いけるかな。という感じ。 七五三シーズンも混み合って無料駐車場が平日満車という状況も見ています。 あと書き忘れていましたが年末年始には門のところにねぶたが飾られるのでそちらも綺麗でおすすめ！ 御祈祷の費用は三千円から。御祈祷を受けるとお札やお守りなどがいただけるので高い感じはしないです。 お札だけでも千円くらいしますから、お札とかお守りをいろいろお受けするなら御祈祷を受けちゃった方がいい場合もありますね。

2024.5 寒川神社（さむかわじんじゃ） 相模國一之宮。式内社（名神大社）で、旧社格は国幣中社。現在は神社本庁の別表神社。 全国唯一の八方除け、方位除けの神社。 また日本一昇殿祈祷者が多い神社となり、その数は年間約30万件にもなるそうです。 ※年間参拝者数が約200万人程なので、郵送祈祷なども数に入っているのかも知れません 寒川神社の拝殿（御社殿）には一本の紐が上から下がっているのですが、本当に天から降りて来ているようにも見えて、神様へ願いが届きそうな気持ちになります。 また神職の方が祭祀を行う祭壇も普通の神社の何倍も高く、威厳があります。 参道を歩き、神門を過ぎると拝殿（御社殿）がある広い空間に出るのですが、一面石張りとなっており、これは少し寒々しい雰囲気です。樹木は拝殿左手にある御神木しかありません。 本殿裏手にある神嶽山神苑（かんたけやましんえん）は元々は禁足地でしたが、2009年に整備されています。 寒川神社の起源と深い関係がある「難波の小池（なんばのこいけ）」を中心に、池泉回遊式の日本庭園が広がり、茶屋や資料館も併設しています。 ※御祈祷を受けないと入れません 【神嶽山神苑の開苑期間】 ３月上旬～12月13日まで 毎週月曜日は休苑（祝祭日は開苑） 【御祭神】 寒川比古命（さむかわひこのみこと） 寒川比女命（さむかわひめのみこと） 【由緒】 創建時期は定かではないが極めて古いとされています。相模国には縄文時代の祭祀跡や遺跡が数多く存在します。近隣の岡田遺跡は日本最大級の縄文遺跡でないかとされています。寒川神社の起源そのものは、歴史書に登場する以前の古墳時代もしくは以前に遡る可能性も考えられます。 雄略天皇（456年～479年）の頃に奉幣、また神亀４年（727年）社殿建立と伝える記録があり、少なくとも約千六百年の歴史を有することになります。 公の記録として残る最初のものは、仁明天皇承和13年（846年）神階従五位下を授けられたと『續日本後紀』に確認することができます。 以来神階の授与が度々なされており、齋衡元年（854年）従四位下、元慶８年（884年）正四位下、延喜16年（916年）正四位上と進階されました。 また延長5年（927年）編纂の『延喜式』神名帳によれば、相模國十三社のうち、相模国唯一の国幣大社として朝廷の名神祭に預かる名神大社とされています。

Description
Samukawa Shrine is a Shinto shrine in the Miyayama neighborhood of the town of Samukawa, Kōza District. Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. It is the ichinomiya of former Sagami Province. The main festival of the shrine is held annually on September 20.
