I visited the "Hokkaido Modern Art Museum" after the "Migishi Kotaro Museum" and was shocked by the discrepancy of the quality of display. At the Hokkaido Museum of Modern Art the air was bad, the lighting was awful and the selected art works for this season were depressing. You don't put all gloomy and dark pictures in one room together, it makes for an extremely depressing visit. I got a headache because the ventilation wasn't working and it was way to warm. To say I was disappointed is an understatement; I was SHOCKED! No English explanations (not even the title of the art work) NOTHING that made this experince somewhat ok.
My suggestion: visit the Migishi Kotaro Museum close by. Even if the art works aren't your taste you actually learn something and the park in which the museum is nestled is...
Read moreThe museum and exhibits are lacking, not really worth the price, but the seating area was nice though. The reason for the mediocre review is that they have no drinking water. Anywhere. At all, apparently.
Maybe you’re thinking: “Well, they must have a vending machine” Not selling water they don’t. Juice? Sure. Coffee? Plenty.
“Maybe the cafeteria?” Only if you purchase something (they don’t have bottled water), but you can’t touch their pitcher of water without a purchase (really? stingy much?).
“Well, what do the employees drink?” When asked, they said the bring a bottle from home.
Solution? Head out to the Lawson and grab a bottle of water.
What kind of museum doesn’t have water for its paying visitors? Dafuq? Common...

I visited the Kyoto Kōzan-ji Temple exhibition.
The audio guide offered the traditional earphone option, but I was pleased to find that it was also compatible with the “聴く美術” app. This is a great feature since it allows you to enjoy the exhibition again at home if you purchase the catalog. Although it had been a year since I last purchased digital content, the staff at the counter provided excellent support, which made the process smooth.
The interior of the museum has a historic atmosphere, but the lockers are plentiful and come in various sizes. For those with suitcases too large for the lockers, the information desk kindly offered to store them, which was a great help since I was visiting in the middle of a trip. The abundance of benches also made it easy to take breaks, which I appreciated. The restrooms were clean and easy to use, making my visit comfortable.
The café on the second floor is stylish and cozy, with a good selection of coffee, cakes, and desserts. However, they only offer toast for more substantial meals, so if you're looking for a full meal, it might be better to go elsewhere. But since it’s not a restaurant, that's understandable.
On my way out, I took a taxi. If you exit the museum and turn left, you'll find a spot where a few taxis are usually parked, so it was easy to catch one, which was very convenient.
The museum is located in a very quiet area, allowing for a peaceful and leisurely...
