Mimosusogawa Park is located across the street from the Shimonoseki side of the Kanmon Tunnel. At first glance, it doesn't look much different from a regular park, but this is a military stronghold and a place where historically important events took place. Emperor Antoku, who became the emperor at a young age, jumped into the sea here in 1185 when he was 8 years old, was pushed by two forces and died. From this point on, the emperor became a figurehead and the shogunate era began. They also have 2 statues of historical warriors that fought in Kanmon Strait, with the handprints of corresponding actors. Overall, it’s a relaxing park that’s worth a visit if you are in that area.

It is entertaining to watch the boats go by. There is a statue commemorating the battle which took place in the strait here.
