Heike Chaya — Restaurant in Shimonoseki

This is a stylish and moderately upscale restaurant. I walked in alone and was shown into a very large private room. At first I felt awkward visiting such a nice restaurant alone but it was no problem. You could easily order single dishes for as little as ¥1500 (yakisoba, sashimi, etc.) and set meals start around ¥2500-3000. I ordered a set, fugu sashimi, and a drink for around ¥5000-6000. Overall, not too pricey for the location and quality. The views of the Kanmon Strait are very excellent. I particularly liked the kawara soba. Fugu sashimi was an interesting experience but I would not seek it out again. If you order it, it comes with a spicy garnish and dipping sauce.
