Free shuttle to local Shizuoka Railway and JR stations, though a bit infrequent. The area is also well served by local buses so there's flexibility. A shopping mall and Chibimarukochan Land are nearby, though I strongly recommend a trip to Fujinomiya for the shrine, UNESCO Heritage centre and the waterfalls to appreciate Mt Fuji along the way.
Shimizu is among the most visited cruise ports in Japan and they surely know how to take care of the cruise passengers. A representative joined the Facebook roll call group of our sailing to provide tour information. A brief firework was put on show upon our sail away. Some stalls were set up on the side of the ship as well.

Read moreThis is a very convenient and chill cruise port location. The port building itself doesn't have much inside, but it's what's next to it. There are many things to do here, including walking to the Shimizu Marine Park and the mall and Ferris wheel right beside the marine park. You can easily charter a taxi at the port and there are other services offered there for you to take a shuttle bus downtown, or to other nearby places.
