Lovely views of Tokushima, all the way to Wakayama (in the distance). There's also a cafe which doubles up as a goods shop for souvenirs and sometimes anime merchandise during the biannual local Machi Asobi anime festivals. On the second floor of this cafe building is an indoor lookout area where you can also ring a bell for happiness. Other than the views, the nature is also beautiful. There are lots of flower gardens planted all around the top of Bizan, and if you go down a bit, there's an area filled with flowers even in late spring! Hydrangeas bloom in June, I presume. The ropeway is a bit expensive for the short distance though, so you can consider climbing up in about half an hour to an hour.

Sakura at Bizan Park in Tokushima City, Japan. Driving down from Mt. Bizan, many cherry trees lined the road. We had just visited Bizan park and enjoyed the cherry blossoms and the splendid view. Courtesy Wikipedia: Mt. Bizan borders the central Tokushima City area with its gently curved shape and altitude of 290m. In addition to a panoramic view of the city, you can see the Sanuki Mountains, Seto Inland Sea, and the Kishu Mountains from the mountain’s summit. Mt. Bizan is considered a usual tourist spot of Tokushima City and was written about in the ancient Manyoshu (an 8th-century anthology of Japanese poetry).

I took the ropeway up which was a bit expensive for such a short ride. The roundtrip ticket cost 1030 yen but beats walking. When you get to the top, the view of the city was amazing and I would highly recommend coming here in the late afternoon before the sun sets so you can see the city in daylight as well as after dark for the night views. Otherwise, it is very peaceful up here. If you want to clear your mind and have some snacks and drinks, bring some with you! If you are a couple, bring a lock with you as well as there is a section for couples locks to hang 🙂

I enjoyed the drive up to the park with its winding road but when I got to the top I was blown away with the spectacular views of Tokushima and its surrounding area, breath taking. I could see why this area was settled as it is so flat and what seems like a perfect place for a harbour. I wished that I had gone up to the park at night time as I believe that the views would have looked even better with the lights of the city. Fantastic place to visit, I'm glad I went there.

The peak could be reached by cable car or by private car. I chose to drive because the hill was not high. There were quite a number of parking lots here. Many trees were planted, which made the place very pleasant, especially during the cherry blossom. City view and mountain view were nice. Toilets were built, but the ventilation was very natural.
