I met Fujisawa at the Sumida Hokusai Museum, where I attended a workshop for dye a small fabric :) He was super kind and even when we didn’t speak the same language he made its best to explain me! I feel sorry cause I couldn’t make it to his house/museum :( but I hope I can visit you next time I come to Tokio!!! And also hope that you read this!!! 🙏🙏🙏 Now my little scarf is here with me in Mexico City 💙✨

We had a great time learning about the history and techniques of indigo dying before trying it ourselves. Fujisawa san is very friendly and makes the process easy to follow. Highly recommend booking and trying for yourself! Need to call in advance to make an appointment.

博物館だと思って行かない。（笑）日本の伝統を体験出来る藍染工房なのです。都内で一番安く体験出来る藍染工房。藍染とは何かと質問にはきちんとお話し下さるし、作り方も型紙も手にとって見る事が出来ます。 体験はハンカチに藍染。ゴムでそれぞれ模様を考えて結びます。そして、手袋をして染める作業も自分でいたします。時間はおよそ1〜2時間。 わたくし達は経験者だったので、綿100%の真っ白のTシャツを持参。追加を持ち込みすると、格安追加料金で染められます！ フレンドリーでお優しいマイスター藤沢さんと楽しんで作りました。 綿や麻など自然素材100%のTシャツなどネットで安く購入すれば、世界に一つのオリジナルTシャツが買うよりも出来ますよ！ 手や靴が汚れるので、服装注意。 色移りするので、帰りに入れるビニール袋を持参する事をお勧め致します。

Quaint little neighborhood. We were there during the off season. Season starts in march. Small museum but you need to realize the significance of what you're looking at. 3 generations of family craftsmen cutting intricate paper patterns by hand and dying indigo in every traditional sense. We met the artist and with help of translation, He explained his craft And showed us his studio. Very personalized and friendly. he showed us a piece that was 150 years old that was done by his great grandfather. Much better than the commercial studios. ...

Wonderful mini workshop experience to have a glimpse into Japanese craft and culture of Aizome dyeing and its application in history. Fujisawa san the third generation craftsman was very friendly and patient with teaching us. In addition if you ask in advance you can bring you own items for indigo dyeing for an extremely reasonable fee per item :)
