I would say this workshop needs more fame, but apparently their schedule is already packed, and there’s no surprise why. Yoshiko-sama & Yoshiichiro-sama are masters of Kintsugi and are the sweetest couple ever. So you can be rest assured that attending their workshop (even the one-day one) means that you’ll be in great hands. The concept of Kintsugi is beautiful and should be applied to life, not just broken ceramics. Would 23/10 recommend attending the workshop for such a unique and authentic cultural experience in Japan.

I had a wonderful experience repairing a bowl that broke down in a over a dozen pieces. Yoshiko and her husband are super friendly and patient. After they welcomed me with tea and sweets we got to work. Using both English and Japanese they explained the steps and helped me putting all the pieces back together. Because my item was quite the challenge I had to do 2 sessions something I really enjoyed nevertheless I do recommend to bring an item less broken 😉

A wonderful experience. The Kinsugi was taught by the cheerful elderly couple, the Kuges'. And through the session we we had happy conversations about the art and many other things. There was another lady from the neighbourhood painting dishes for her new born and family; and another lady came in with broken dishes to be fixed. A lovely afternoon.

Honestly the best Kintsugi class!!! I loved it so much that I ended up taking 2 classes in one day. Yoshii-san is a true ceramic master. She has been working with ceramics for over 50 years and has been practicing Kintsugi for 30. She speaks perfect english, so is able to give you thorough and detailed explanations of the craft. We worked on antique ceramics from the Meiji period (roughly 150 years old ceramics). She also gives you a list of supplies that you need to buy from Tokyu Hands if you want to continue the craft in your own country.

She has some examples of her work in the little studio - which inspired me as to what this kind of skill can create!!!

She also prepared delicious homemade cake and tea for us. It was the perfect way to spend a day and I am absolutely delighted with the knowledge I've gained...
