A lovely, quiet and relaxing park stretching along the stream. I had the opportunity to see the last of the cherry blossoms before sakura season was fully over and it was a beautiful sight to see pink petals adorning each side of the stream path. The pond in the middle of the park was nice for viewing of fish, tortoises and a variety of local birds. Mostly people seem to be relaxing and enjoying the greenery with a few sitting down to sketch the patches of yellow irises dotted along the pond.

Omiya Hachiman Shrine is a must see. Almost 1000 years of history stretching back into the mists of mythology. Mothers and grandmas bring new borns to pray for health and good lives, and leave their wishes on wooden emma tablets.

Cool park with a nice pond and river etc. Looks pretty family oriented. Interesting looking catch-your-own meal restaurant on the premises too.

杉並区善福寺池に源を発し、最終的に神田川に合流する善福寺川は、杉並区内で大きく蛇行して流れています。川沿いに遊歩道が設けられ、さらに遊水池のような場所が広場や公園として整備されています。 このうち和田堀公園と呼ばれる場所はかなり広い範囲にわたっており、野球場や陸所競技場などの施設もありますが、中心となるのは和田堀池の周辺一帯でしょうか。 冬の公園はいいですね。木洩れ日、日だまり・・ 葉を落とした木々が並ぶ静寂につつまれた空気・・ そして川にはたくさんの水鳥の姿が見られます。 水辺の風景が楽しめる場所ですが、井の頭公園のように人が多くないのも好ましいところです。 ポップコーンの自動販売機が置いてある売店（武蔵野園）などは昭和レトロそのままの姿ですね。 日当たりの良いベンチに腰を下ろして、のんびりくつろぎたい気分になります。

東京都立善福寺の下の池を源流とする善福寺川に沿って広がる大きな公園です。普通の公園と違って蛇行する善福寺の両岸が公園になっていて、公園全体を1日で遊ぶことは不可能なほど広大です。 東西に長い公園ですので最寄り駅は京王井の頭線の永福町、西永福、浜田山、東京メトロ丸の内線方南町の４駅のいずれも徒歩15分ほどの距離です。 和田堀公園内には5つの野球場、2つのサッカー場、2つのテニス場のほか、大小の広場、たくさんの遊具、健康器具、遊歩道、池、プールがあり杉並区民の憩いの場になっています。 駅から少し距離があるので、地元住民が静かに過ごす公園です。 和田堀公園から善福寺公園、善福寺川緑地と連なっており、どこが境界線なのかわかりませんでした。

東京都の隠れ桜スポットです。野球場やヒコーキ広場よりも西側が桜多く椅子もありレジャーシート敷けます。大宮八幡宮も桜愛でるにはいい場所です。数多くの人達で賑わってました。トイレも多くあり便利です。桜以外も数多くの木々が生い茂ってます。野球場やサッカー場、バスケットコートなどあり。ヒコーキ広場には杉並が中島飛行機の発祥地からか飛行機のかなり年季入った遊具あります。他数多くの遊具あり広場もあり散策コースあります。総合的に見るととてもいい公園であり駐車場も台数置ける。池ある所から西側川沿いの並木の終点までは2～3kmほどあり。上流の善福寺川の池までは更に6kmほど、電車のアクセスはやや不便である。最寄り駅は京王井の頭線永福町駅です。
