Tora-san Museum — Attraction in Tokyo

I never watched any Tora-san’s film but I’d read something about it in a tour guide. As I like to visit local and less touristy spots I decided to go and I was not disappointed. The museum is not big, but cute. The presentation of the cinematic adventures of Tora-san is very lively and fun. It made me want to watch the films. The museum staff is adorable and very helpful. I had a great experience at Tora-san Museum! There’s also a nice café where you can enjoy coffees and pastries. The only weak point is its location, quite far from the rest of the attractions, but there’s a lovely and peaceful shinto shrine nearby that is worth the visit too. Created in 1997, this small museum is dedicated to the famous Japanese film series "Otoko wa Tsuraiyo" (It's Tough To Be A Man), featuring the character Tora-san. It was built in the Shibamata district, which is the filming location for the film's series. The museum features a collection of items and memorabilia related to the films, as well as a replica of the filming studio. We arrived about 40 minutes before museum closed so there was no crowds at all. The exhibit is about a long running television show since Showa era.

The settings were replicas from the show which is nostalgic even to me since we were so culturally close. The kitchen setting was so much like my old house’s kitchen.

Even though I didn’t watch the show but I was able enjoy its exhibitions and some clips from the show.
