Toshio Kashio Memorial Museum of Invention — Attraction in Tokyo

I visited the museum after driving far (and coming from the other side of the world but that's not important). There's no parking around there, unless their gate is open, which it wasn't. I thought it was an open miseum, that's kind of how most museums are, but after I rang the bell, a man answered in English (he must have seen me approaching to start off speaking English). Anyway, he tells me I needed to make a reservation. Casio makes cheap watches and charges a lot, just for the name Casio. Do you think the founder of Casio would like the way his memorial museum is being run? Turn people away and tell them they need a reservation. I doubt it. Shame on the people carrying the Casio legacy. Shame on his descendants who sit back and collect checks for a legacy they never earned. Shame on the museum curator who makes the Casio website in Japanese so foreigners waste their time going all the way there to be told they need a reservation. I hope the people who work there read this and feel some sense of shame, but I doubt it. I will reconsider buying another Casio again and I will share my experience with your door intercom with anyone who ever asks me about my trip...

I had the most enjoyable time here. There is no real provision for non-Japanese speaking but the hosts were very gracious and even arranged for an English speaking man to greet me. The museum itself was beautiful and emotional. I cannot thank the staff enough for their help and hospitality as I arrived during torrential rain and they made me feel comfortable. 発明家にして起業家の 樫尾四兄弟の次男である 俊雄氏が生前愛した自宅です。

故人の遺志を親族が引き継ぎ、 市民緑地として地域に公開 しながら残しています。

何事も突き詰める俊雄氏は、 外観のデザインから庭木一本に いたるまで、細かく指示したと 言われています。

2012年に87歳で亡くなるまで この家で暮らしました。

カシオの礎を築き、日本の エレクトロニクス産業の 発展に寄与した功績を 伝えるため、現在はかつての 自邸の一部が「樫尾俊雄発明 記念館」として公開されて います。

個人の邸宅とは思えないほどの エントランスです。 きらびやかなシャンデリアと、 優美な曲線を描く階段、 かつてはグランドピアノが 置かれ、演奏会が開かれて いたそうです。

スケールが大きすぎて 全貌がみえないため、 ジオラマが置かれていて 確認できるようになっています。

鉄筋コンクリート造りの邸宅は、 美しい緑青の屋根を持つ、 昭和47年竣工の主屋と、 昭和61年に増設された２階建て からなり、延べ床面積約900平米の 規模を誇ります。

昭和47年の建築当初、 梁や壁はコンクリートに モルタルを吹き付けた 外壁のような仕上げで 今とは雰囲気が違って いたそうです。

屋根の上から世界を睥睨する ステンドグラスのハクトウワシ とは対照的に、ドアの横の 大理石の壁ではエレガントな 極楽鳥が訪問客を迎えていました。...
