A great day trip from Osaka. Some beautiful edo and Meiji era buildings. Stop by the visitor center as you get off the train and get some maps of other buildings to check out in the area. What a wonderful, relaxing place to visit and immerse oneself in an Edo period mansion. Each room is preserved immacutely and you get a sense of what it may feel like living in such a home.

The women managing this house are very friendly as well.

🏛️【国指定重要文化財】 指定名称は『旧杉山家住宅』

以下、富田林市が設置した説明板より 杉山家は寺内町創立以来の旧家で、代々「杉山長左衛門」を名乗り、江戸時代を通じて富田林八人衆の一人として町の経営に携わってきた。旧来の家業は明らかではないが、貞享2年（1685）に酒造株を取得した後は、造り酒屋として成功し、当初三〇石であった酒造石高は元禄10年（1697）に百四石、天明5年（1785）に千百三石と著しい発展を遂げている。 江戸時代の屋敷図によると、杉山家の屋敷地は町割の一画を占める広大なもので、その中に主屋を始め酒蔵、釜屋、土蔵など十数棟が軒を接して建てられており、その繁栄をうかがうことができる。 現存する主屋の建築年代は、土間部分が17世紀中期で最も古く、その後に座敷や2階部分を増築し、延享4年（1747）ごろほぼ現状の形にったものと考えられている。 富田林寺内町の古い町家は農家型の平面構成をとり、煙返しなど農家的な技法も見られる。旧杉山家住宅はこれら民家の中で最も古い遺構であり、規模も大きく質のよい商家の住宅として、昭和58年12月26日...
