Ooedo Onsen Monogatari Ureshinokan — Attraction in Ureshino

Location: Far away from JR but very close to the bus terminal, only 5 minutes away. And the hotel provides free pick-up and drop-off services at the bus terminal, bus transfer station and JR, so it is not a problem.Facilities: Since the hotel has a bit of history, it is relatively dilapidated, but the facilities are sufficient, except for the relatively simple equipment in the room. Many parts of the old place are fading and peeling. After all, it has been some time since the last renovation.Food: I booked a hotel room and two meals. Dinner and breakfast were all buffet style. If I chose the most basic set meal, there was no seafood provided. Most of them are Japanese food, the taste is good, and the selection is normal. The surprising thing is that each restaurant provides a small stove and steamer, which can cook and steam food by yourself, but there are not many choices, and there is only a small candle provided for heating. Slow and will be used up quickly, no additional service is provided.Service: First of all, the pick-up service is very considerate. Before departure, we had to take a direct bus from Fukuoka Airport to Ureshino, which only took 45 minutes. I was already worried that I would not be able to catch the bus, which would affect the check-in time, and I was also worried that I would not be able to catch the last pick-up service (8pm). I kept in contact with the hotel and provided suggestions and solutions, which was very thoughtful. I also emailed the hotel about my situation on the way to the bus, and the hotel immediately reminded me of the correct drop-off point and asked the pick-up and drop-off staff to pick me up at that location (because I had chosen another location to reserve the pick-up service at the beginning). It was already dark after getting off the bus, but the staff kept waiting and came up to confirm that they were considerate.The counter staff are also considerate and courteous; but the restaurant staff are a little weak in comparison. They don't speak English. I understand it very well, but it seems that the stove for cooking food needs a lighter. It is not easy to find a lighter. When I asked the staff to get it, I didn't want to ignore it. Maybe it's because it's too busy, after all, there are only 2-3 employees. Instead, it is often the Japanese travelers next to me who remind me.Overall: There is a hotel in Ureshino that provides one bed and two meals. This one is considered to be more cost-effective. Other hotels are more expensive and may have higher quality, but this one is worth the price, location and shuttle service. My family of two seniors, two adults, and two children stayed in for a night in mid-July. A number of guests were having check-in procedures at the time we arrived. The receptionist worked efficiently and often wore a smiling face. ||We have booked two onsen-attached rooms and both were found on the ground floor (or 1/F in Japan). These Western-Japanese rooms were spacious and relatively new to other parts of the hotel. The futon had been set already at the room lounge. ||It happened that the lock of one of our luggage case got jammed. I took it to the receptionist for assistance. Two hotel staff used various methods to tackle the problem, that occupied them for almost 20 minutes. Special thanks to their effort. The receptionist could communicate in English. One of them commanded fluent Chinese as well. ||We were arranged to have the last round (starting from 19:30) of the dinner buffet. A wide spread of local and Japanese dishes were available. The food was better than expected. Refill was frequent. The buffet breakfast served in the same venue. ||There were some games facilities between the reception area and our rooms. Some guest noises were heard at night. Besides this the room was absolutely quiet and comfortable. ||The public onsen was on the G/F. There were one large outdoor pool and an indoor one. The onsen water was really wonderful - gently rub your skin in onsen water and you will find the smoothness. The private onsen pot at the room could adequately accommodate one adult user. Probably this hotel offered the cheapest onsen-attached room in the town. Yet it was nice enough. ||The hotel offered free car park spaces to guest. They were found in the open area opposite to the hotel building. ||The hotel may not be a quaint or luxurious one. But we are fully satisfied with its onsen-attached rooms, food, and services. This place would serve their customer used toothbrush. Sorry it is totally not acceptable if staff did not check their hygiene amenities clean for their customers. The hotel is clearly refurbished most of its parts. I am okay with the hotel with its history but their service and hygiene have to be up to standard. Sorry this is a definitely budget hotel as once i enter the room i already find a used toothpaste from the former guest. I was thinking okay, i can get along with minor mistake like this. But at night, i found both of my toothbrush set were open, i immediately asked my wife, why did you open it both. She told me she did not. Then i could only imagine the situation i was holding used toothbrush by a stranger. It is bad experience. I hope ppl would go a better place than this one....
