Korea Garden — Attraction in Yokohama

The Korea Garden in Mitsuike Park is a curios garden full of Korean artifacts and some small buildings.

It’s free to enter and if you wish to enter the main building you can do so. But honestly there isn’t much to see inside.

It’s a nice enough garden but I have never really understood its purpose within the park.

It's a very small area inside Mitsuike Park, not worth to come here if you're not planning to visiting the bigger park. Both architecture and plants inside the Korea area are nothing special. 三ツ池公園のなかにある、両班（ヤンバン）の屋敷を再現した施設です。 両班とは、高麗から始まった昔の朝鮮の官僚層のことです。こちらの庭園は、李氏朝鮮時代の両班の屋敷をイメージしたそうです。 日本の中で世界史の教科書に出てくる用語の関連施設に行ける大変貴重な機会だと思い、ここのために坂道を上り下りしてたどり着きました！

庭園の雰囲気は、同じ東アジア圏ということもあって何となく日本に似ているような、でも少し違うような…という印象を受けました。20世紀末に再現した屋敷とはいえ、両班の生活風景を味わうことができるいい機会となりました。 屋敷の中には入ることができます。展示品として箪笥や寝台など、当時の生活が分かるものが再現されています。入って箱は家系図を入れるものということで、儒教による影響を強く感じました。 屋敷内の展示物をネットにあげていいものかわからないため、載せないことにしました……。
