Tateishi Park — Attraction in Yokosuka

If you’ve come to Hayama Isshiki Beach and cant find a cheaper car park, then Tateishi is the one. It is free but its best to come early but you can also jump in before an hour & a bit before sunset (4-5pm) and you’ll see people leaving. There’s toilet (not sure if I saw showers). There’s a park on the same level as the car park if you dont wanna get too close to the water or if you wanna have a picnic above the beach level. The water is visibly clear except for a specific spot at sunset. There’s high number of hermit crabs and sea crabs so if you’ve come here to catch some then be prepared as smaller ones are hiding on pockets by the shores. Bigger ones are hiding on remote rocks, which is half submerged into the water. Hayama isshiki beach offers a bit more but this is an extremely excellent alternative. This place is awesome for snorkling and a great place for the kids to play. We went here from Yokohama on a Friday, and got to the parking area and found it was FREE! That was part of what makes it great. The water was fairly clear at the whole beach, but around the rocks and little islands, it was VERY clear, and without a lot of surge and wave activity, I had a ball. Loads of fish to see; lots of shallows for the kids to play in, and little channels for them to swim in that were protected from the swells. I did get a little banged up in a crevasse I got stuck in going after some fishing equipment, but it wasn't too bad. I'd recommend a dive skin or a set of coveralls to protect from the barnacles and the little tiny jellyfish that zapped my kids a couple of times. Overall, a really great place to spend...

Very popular park for photographers & locals to visit during sunset. They have a huge free parking lot however it is usually filled up especially if going to catch a glimpse of Fujisan at sunset. I would recommend going 2 hours before sunset to be able to score a free parking space, if not a lot across the street from LuvIt has plenty of spots but the fee is ¥900 but might be worth it to avoid the hassle of finding a place to park which is extremely limited and places do monitor - especially if you park somewhere that is...
