Yuasa’s Denken District is a beautiful and peaceful historical town that feels like stepping back in time. The streets are lined with traditional wooden houses and white-walled storehouses that tell the story of Japan’s soy sauce heritage. It is fascinating to walk around and learn that Yuasa is the birthplace of Japanese soy sauce.
I really enjoyed exploring the area around Kitamachi-dori Street and visiting the Kadocho Soy Sauce Museum. You can still smell the rich aroma of soy sauce in the air, which makes the experience even more authentic. The whole district is very walkable, and the locals are friendly and proud of their town’s history.
