What a fantastic beach! If you only have time for one beach visit, this is the one to go for. The water gets deep quite fast, and there's corals just a few meters out. Lots of fish there, which seems quite used to people. The corals closest to shore has been damaged, probably from people stepping on it. The beach is white, the water is turquoise and the view is breathtaking. If you enjoy plane watching there's a few fighter planes buzzing over from time to time.
You can rent snorkeling gear, sun umbrellas, tanning beds and more at reasonable rates. Two beds and umbrella for ¥2000, snorkeling gear for ¥1000 (might be ¥500, I forgot). Opening hours 9AM-5PM
There's a small house where you can get lunch, a mix of ranging from corn dogs to a variety of Japanese food. About ¥800 will feed you good. There's restrooms and for ¥150 you can take a shower. Closes at 4PM.
Lifeguards are also on watch. Everybody there speaks a little English. Opening hours and service levels might vary depending on season, I was there beginning of June.
You can get there on foot, with a rental bike/scooter/car or by the Zamami village bus (300¥). I didn't try but going by foot or on bike is only for fit people. From the port you have a very steep hill up, and then down half way.
Now go...
Read moreAbsolutely breathtaking – Furuzamami Beach is truly one of the most stunning beaches I’ve ever experienced in my life.
From the moment we arrived, I was blown away by the vivid shades of turquoise and deep blue – the water is so crystal clear it almost looks surreal. As you can see in the photos, the color of the sea is unlike anywhere else, perfectly contrasting with the white sand and the lush green hills in the background. It's pure paradise.
The beach itself is well-maintained, with comfortable lounge chairs and umbrellas available, giving it a relaxed and organized feel. It’s ideal for swimming, snorkeling, or just soaking in the view – the coral reefs close to shore are teeming with marine life, and the calm, shallow water makes it accessible for all ages.
Furuzamami Beach is a hidden gem that feels like a private island escape, yet it's just a short ferry ride from Naha. I’ve visited many beaches around the world, but this one left a lasting impression. If you're heading to Okinawa, this beach is an absolute must-visit. You won’t...
Read moreThe water was very clear and palyable with white sandy beach. I walked from village to the beach and it took about 20mins. The weather was hot to walk as it was in the middle of July, but for me it was doable. The beach has one shop rents parasol, sunbed, also swimming items. They sell drinks and snacks as well. Under water, coral was not planty but enough to enjoy. It seemed quite many of coral has died because of something -not pollution but climate change i assume-. Fishes were diverse, i think i saw over ten different fishes in the site, from small ones to arm long big ones. I enjoyed fun diving as the water is properly deep (like 4meters) once you go out 5 meters of shallow area from the beachside. Village bus is available for every 30mins. In the shop you can do coin shower with 300yen. I would back here to enjoy diving and...
