Disappointed beyond belief, but not at all surprised. I visited on 02/07/2024 Tuesday at 5:20 for a scheduled Planetarium show. Everything was closed down, the exhibits, museum, planetarium etc. We found out there, that the place will closed for at least a week if not more due to the air conditioning not working in this heat. That was not the disappointing part, as such things can happen.

The following is what made it unbelievable:

  1. There was absolutely NO announcement that the place is closed down, anywhere.
  2. Their website is ANCIENT and has not been updated in the last 8 years since the planetarium closed for renovations. I know this because I checked it multiple times since 2016.
  3. The numbers posted on said website amd here on Google Maps have never been answered in the last 4-5 years I've called.
  4. The only active social media they seem to have, Instagram is also useless, as there is no post or story stating that they are closed at the moment.
  5. Even when the planetarium was under renovations, there was absolutely no indication as to when it will reopen, resulting in me visiting this place 3 seperate times since 2016 to no avail.

I cannot FATHOM what kind of people run this place, especially the planetarium, because they seem to have absolutely NO REGARD for the visitors, for their excitement or time.

I used to come here as a child and have fond memories of enjoying it with my family. All I want is to experience that wonder again.

I only ask that management do their LITERAL JOB and keep the public informed of these VERY basic things.

I pray the next time I come here, I will give a different, better review, the kind I hoped to give today, and I hope those who come after me, also have a better...

Kuwait National Museum

03 February 2020

Located along the Arabian Gulf Street between Seif Palace and National Assembly, the Kuwait National Museum is a true representation of the Kuwait Heritage.

Architecture & Design

Designed by the French architect Michel Ecochard, visitors can enjoy this historical museum, which represent the Kuwaiti life in the past, their everyday activities, the rich trading history of Kuwait and its traditions. The museum consists of five buildings built around a central garden; this is similar to the architectural plan of the vernacular Arab mud house which has a central courtyard. The National Museum also exhibits the wonderful art collection by the Al-Sabah dynasty. Indeed, there are two types of museums. The first displays artifacts found during an archaeological dig in Failika Island, terracotta and engraved tools, wooden doors of the past, group of cutters and blades from Neolithic age and flint stone, silver statues, 16 million old animal fossil, bronze coins from bronze period and Hellenistic period. The other museum exhibits include statues depicting the old ways of Kuwaitis, old photos dating back to 1942, a typical Kuwaiti house prior to invasion of modern technology and in general, the museum displays artifacts of what Kuwait was like during the 40's and 50's. Though, the museum was stripped of several of these artifacts during the Gulf war, it has been restored and is open to public for display. Therefore, for the visitors who are not very familiar with the full chronological and geographic spread of the Islamic world, a visit to Kuwait National Museum...

This museum is where I came to know in 1970s about the "marsh-arabs", and which later led me to my discovery that they were of the ancient ubaidis from Eridu, who reached Mandovia (named by them as Dilmun/Delmon) which was referred to as the Garden of Eden by Moses 2000 years later. The lisbonis and the delhiwalas call my country goa. Global trade began between Eridu and Delmon, for COTTON, as the cashform (they came to find a cashform item, any item that could be traded for meat milk grain) - and that is what led to international trade as soon as manforms got a hyoidbone and could speak - Thats what led to the "mandovian exchange" which civilised the ancient world, long BEFORE THE FLOOD of Noah, giving mankind the highvalues, the essentials of plant-meds, the astrology, the means to calculate for that infobase with the given zero, which led to the wheel which led to the potter's wheel. Astrology given was not about the stars but about the forcefield of the planet using the stars to know of each of the...

I am very disappointed in the exterior (poor grounds maintenance) and the interior of this national museum. Once you entered into a dimly lite entrance... you were greeted with kind and friendly receptionists. However, once we began our walk, many display cases were not lighted, which made it hard to see the artifacts. The artifacts that we could see and read about were not well described. Once you exited the 1st display area (again disappointed in the maintenance of the exterior), we entered another building with few, very dusty, broken displays that barely explained the history of the Kuwaiti people. Again, the lighting made it hard to read the few displays that had a bit of information. Once you exited this area, that was the end of the tour... nothing was displayed from about the 1970s to the present date, no modern history of Kuwait. I gave it a 2 rating for the friendly staff and a few artifacts that I could learn a little about that were on display.

Such a beautiful establishment that is in dire need of refurbishment and maintenance, both outside and inside including the greenery and pavements. If you get past the many closed halls and overlook the maintenance needing areas, you will enjoy a wonderful and storytelling museum that perhaps was stellar once upon a time. I hope we visit again and find more exhibits on display. Be aware of parking areas as Google and other apps get lost with updates. Also mind the timing as it closes midday.

There is multiple rooms and halls in this national museum with artifacts starting from 12000 years ago till the recent history of Kuwait. Many of the artifacts were from the Failaka island. The museum is very well maintained, very clean and well organized. Special shout out to Maha Al Ajami, the super lady who gave us so many information about the museum and many other historical and cultural places around Kuwait city 👏
