Reviews of Lanikai Monument
For visitors to Kailua Park the best way to get to Lanikai Beach is walk since there is limited parking in the neighborhood. On your way you will pass the Lanikai Monument which makes for a breathtaking view of the bay area and Popoia Island (Flat Island). It can be very windy there so hold on to your hat! The walkway is shared by bicyclists so be mindful of them as they pass by as you take in the view and capture the moment with cameras.
Beautiful entirely clean beach with clear water and a great view of a long winding shore. Plenty of coral close to the shore where you can snorkel and see all kinds of fish (butterfly, angel, needle, humuhumunukunukuāpuaʻa, wrasse, box, Moorish idol, on and on). A few islands you can swim or kayak to as well. Generally calm waters when we were there in February so it was good for kids and paddle boarding, but not so much surfing.
I live in the neighborhood and this spot is loved by my children. Marks the beginning of Lanikai and is a unique feature of this lovely little beach community. My children always lo e.to run up to the monument and run around it. If you walk between the monument and the guardrail, you can get to the shore below and get a closer look at the water. Always love seeing this on the drive home from work.
