We have been having our morning walks here for three mornings in a row, during our recent soujourn in Kuantan. At first, we just wanted to try it and compare it with our Kelana Jaya lakes, but as it turned out to be quite popular with the locals, we eventually got hooked ourselves.
Just like in Kelana Jaya, we started our walk early, at around 6:30 am. Eventhough it was still dark, we noticed a large crowd was already walking that sunday morning. The pathway was paved with interlocking blocks, but was slightly uneven at certain portions, mainly due to some overgrown tree's roots system beneath the pathways. Hence, we had to be quite careful not to stumble over the hidden cracks along the way.
But the most surprising element was definitely the monkeys!! Located next to the forest reserve, this park is unfortunately swarming with wild monkeys, and their huge numbers totally shocked us. Eventhough none of them were posing any threats to the humans at the moment, but the sheer number of big and small families of monkeys tend to frighten younger children. I could observe that they were scavenging for discarded and leftover foods from the rubbish bins, while making a bigger mess in the process.
If only the powers that be could maintain a better hygine and cleanliness level at the park, and employ more workers to keep the rubbish at bay, this would be a much safer place for family activities. I could see there were some paddle boats available for rental by the public, but the presence of the monkeys would definitely offer a stiff competition for the boats!
The flora and fauna were the most positive aspects of this park. Beside that, there was a newly built basketball court and a netball court as well, which were patronized by the monkeys already from what I saw. There were sufficient carparking lots for the crowds to attend for local events and activities being organized here.
We came across an empty foodcourt building which was only operating from 4:00 pm until midnight, and that was just a huge waste of space and opportunity, as the morning crowd didnt get to enjoy the facilities already available there. Again, another aspect for the powers that be...
Read moreTaman Bandar Kuantan is hands down one of the best places to jog if you’re looking for a peaceful and positive vibe in the heart of the city. The park is spacious, clean, and surrounded by greenery, making every run feel refreshing and energizing.
The jogging track is wide and well-maintained, suitable for all levels — whether you're a beginner just starting out or a regular runner. The lake in the middle adds a calm, scenic touch, especially in the early morning when the water is still and the air is cool. The sunrise view here is beautiful and sets the tone for a great day.
There’s a strong community feel too. You’ll often see families, cyclists, elderly walkers, and young joggers all enjoying the same space, creating a friendly and encouraging atmosphere. The park also has exercise stations, clean restrooms, and plenty of shaded areas for breaks.
Taman Bandar Kuantan isn’t just a place to jog — it’s a spot to clear your mind, soak in nature, and reconnect with yourself. The vibe is positive, safe, and welcoming. If you're in Kuantan and need a go-to jogging...
Read moreThere's a lot of things to be done here in terms of upgrading the facilities. There are several activities has been aded but the public fitness equipment seemed old and may cause harm to the visitors especially kids. The old playground has been removed thankfully as the set is broken and have several sharp edges, hoping it will be replaced by a better ones. Along the tracks there is a site where it is too near to a "moat" someone might fall if they are too careless (ie watching phones). My visit at the time, are welcomed my alot of wasps lingering around (and my third daughter almost touch them). So much potential to the place really, so nice attraction if properly managed. The mentality of the visitors are still low as trash can be found everywhere after...
