Place Review: Penyetan Pak Han, Indera Mahkota, Kuantan
If you’re studying at IIUM Kuantan and craving authentic Indonesian flavors without traveling far, Penyetan Pak Han is the perfect spot. Located just minutes from campus in Bandar Indera Mahkota, the restaurant is very accessible — ideal for students looking for a convenient yet satisfying meal.
The place has a simple, clean, and student-friendly interior. It’s not too crowded, which makes it a great hangout spot for quick lunch breaks or casual meetups with friends. The environment is cozy enough for a chill dine-in experience, and the staff are friendly too.
Food Review: Nasi Ayam Geprek Gajus (Set A)
I tried the Nasi Ayam Geprek Gajus, and it was surprisingly delightful. The chicken was fried to crispy perfection, and the sambal was powerful — spicy enough to make you sweat, in a good way. What really makes this dish stand out is the gajus (cashew nuts), adding an unexpected crunch and nutty twist to the usual geprek flavor.
The rice was well-cooked, the portion was satisfying, and the raw veggies (cucumber and cabbage) balanced out the heat from the sambal. If you enjoy spicy food with a touch of uniqueness, this one's worth a try.
Overall Verdict:
Affordable, flavorful, and close to campus — Penyetan Pak Han is a hidden gem for IIUM students. Definitely recommended if you're into Indonesian cuisine with a...
Read moreSambal has 4 level, but i think even level 4 is not that spicy, compared to pak gembus, this level 4 is equivalent to level 1 or maybe 2 at pak gembus, but for me it's equivalent to level 1 at pak gembus. For me, they sambal it so-so, it would be great if they add a lil bit sweetness into it, because mainly it tasted salty (not really salty, the salt enough but i want to depict that it lacked of balance taste).
Chicken is good, it was juicy and crispy. They provide good amount of soup too, but it was a shared bowl for me and my friend. As i dont like to combine rice with soup directly, it is inconvenient for me, because i can't sip the soup directly.
As for the sambal, the give little at first, and it was a side, if you want more just ask and they give the second time quite alot. It...
Read morei would rate the food 10/10. but the attitude of the female staff was quite rude i might say. i knew it's peak hour at the time this incident happened, but i hope the owner of the restaurant could do something to improve your customer service. An old man came by in that afternoon and asked nicely the cashier (female staff), what menu u guys has and she just used her finger pointing the menu provided in front of the counter without looking at the customer. mind you the old man couldnt read because his eyes was blurry, so he asked again, but the female staff just ignore him. and when it was my turn, she made an inapproriate facial expression while im searching for money to pay (im a bit slow bcs my bag was full). U should improve this tho. It...
