Mahindarama Buddhist Temple (Theravada) — Attraction in George Town

Mahindrama Buddhist temple must be one of the most historical and prominent temples in Penang and Malaysia. "This is a place where students often come to seek blessings for good exam results.

However, today, as a student, I went there to express my gratitude to the Milk Buddha for his blessings and intended to receive a wristband for peace of mind. I wasn't familiar with the process of receiving it, but I knew it was in a small room inside. Afraid of being impolite by entering abruptly, I stood outside and waited, hoping to see an administrator or monk.

Later, a Chinese monk passed by, and he was extremely impolite! From about 20 steps away, he loudly commanded me to take off my shoes and enter first. I followed his instructions and went inside. The monk stood far away and kept shouting 'TABLE TABLE TABLE' at me, but I genuinely didn't understand what he meant. 😃 I did see two tables, one of which had a bowl with the wristbands (but it didn't make sense for me to tie it myself). Then, he came over and, using his hand gestures, scolded me, 'STUPID LAH U.' I was stunned to hear a monk speaking to me like that, especially at a Buddhist temple. He continued to shout at me, using his hands to emphasize his words, 'U STUPID, U SO STUPID, WHY ARE U SO STUPID, Very Stupid.'

I now feel extremely upset and negative after returning home. The whole incident has affected me emotionally.

Finally, the monk in charge of chanting and tying the wristbands came out, and only then did the other monk leave without continuing his insults. I couldn't calm down during the chanting and felt speechless throughout. I don't often come here to get a wristband, but is it really necessary to be shouted at and insulted loudly by a monk when visiting a place of worship?

This is the terrible incident I encountered today. I hope no student experiences being yelled at, called names, and insulted by a monk before their exams. It truly affects a person's emotions. 😥"

是学生常来祈求保佑自己考获佳绩的地方

但是今天我作为学生去拜拜答谢牛奶佛的庇佑后打算领一个手绳求个安心 因为自己不是很熟悉怎么领 只知道是在里面那间小房子, 但是怕贸然进去会不礼貌 所以站着外面等看有没有管理员或和尚来的时候我就问看 之后是有个华人和尚路过 他非常不礼貌!!! 直接从20多步左右远处大声命令叫我脱鞋先进去 我照做进去后 那个和尚站在远远一直对我大喊TABLE TABLE TABLE 但我真的不懂他的意思😃我是有看到2张桌子 其中一张桌子上面有一碗装着的手绳 (但是因为不可能是我自己拿这个手绳自己绑啊) 然后他就过来用手比着骂我STUPID LAH U 我也愣住竟然会有和尚这样说话 还是在佛寺的地方出口大骂信徒 我也有坦白跟他说抱歉我真的不明白你的意思 他依然一直不停用手比着我大喊U STUPID, U SO STUPID, WHY ARE U SO STUPID, Very Stupid 我现在回到家都觉得非常委屈 整个人都很负面 最后负责念经绑手绳的和尚出来后他才自己走开不继续骂了。念经的时候我无法静心下来 一直觉得很无语因为我真的没有很常来这里拿手绳 但真的需要这样大声辱骂前来拜拜的客人吗
