Extremely Disappointing Stay – Poor Noise Control and Weak Management Response
My family and I stayed at Gua Kelam Chalet on 18 October 2025 (rooms 915, 905, 902 & 903). Unfortunately, our stay was completely ruined by a group of guests (said to be from Toyota) who sang karaoke and shouted loudly until around 2:00 a.m.
We had already asked the staff during check-in whether this group would be noisy, and were assured the karaoke would stop by 10:00 p.m. However, that was not enforced at all. Even after texting the staff around 12:40 a.m., no one came or responded. I eventually had to personally approach the group to stop the noise — something the management should have handled, not paying guests.
The chalet’s own notice clearly states karaoke is only allowed until 10:00 p.m., yet this rule was completely ignored. The management later admitted the incident and offered only a 20% discount voucher and a free boat ride as compensation — which hardly makes up for a sleepless night and ruined experience.
While the manager claimed they “warned the guests” and that “disturbances may happen as it’s a nature-based property,” that does not excuse the lack of immediate action or enforcement of their own policies.
This was a very disappointing experience showing poor management control, weak enforcement, and no real accountability. I hope the chalet will take this feedback seriously to protect future guests from...

Read moreI found out this chalet through a travel program featured in Astro AEC channel. I decided to give it a try for my self-drive family vacation to Perlis in Dec 2023. ||The chalet is hidden in a small rubber plantation village. If you wish to visit attractions in Perlis, e.g. Timah Tasoh Lake, Gua Kelam, Wang Kelian Viewpoint, this chalet is the best and most cozy place to lay over. I booked a family chalet unit consists of 2 interconnecting rooms. The rooms were clean and cozy. There is a swimming pool with jacuzzi. Breakfast served in the chalet is decent and complete. ||The best part of the stay is the complimentary buggy tour provided to hotel guests. The tour covers rubber plantation, a temple built in a cave, as well as free shuttle to Gua Kelam. Kudos to Steve who was kind to offer the buggy tour and briefed us about the history of this small town. ||The downside of the stay is the poor wifi signal in my room. Fortunately, I could still rely on the telco 4G for web surfing purpose. Also, there is no preset TV channels, so it is redundant. ||One suggestion to the chalet is to offer meals for dinner as this small village lacks dining options...
