A nice place to bring family along during wekends. Easy access by road from Kangar and is not far from the small town called Kaki Bukit. Available parking spaces but congested during weekends. Paid toilets are available and there are small kiosks selling toys as well as snacks and canned drinks. Walking up through the cave is not labourous. Kids and senior citizen could easily reached the other side if the caves. For those who likes to picnic roofed wakafs are available. There is also a small playgrounds. Minimal entry free of Rm2 is charged at the counter before the journey up. Walkway is lighted and no searchlight is needed. Gua Kelam is windy clean without bats dung or birds droppings and sound of flowing stream gives a very relaxing ambience. Colors light are positioned at selected locations giving dramatic effect to the walls. Wooden walkway makes walking easy and in two areas you can either rest or short stop for pictures. The main cave is high and safe thus no hard cap is required. Fresh cool feelings awaits you and most of rainforest trees are tall and big creating a canopy-like roofs. The space is huge and many roofed 'wakaf' or rest areas are erected. Some wakaf are secluded with shrubs allowing some privacy for campers. Clean clear stream could also be found at the foot of second cave. Not far from main cave of Gua Kelam 'painted beetles and insects'were place to create 'Secret Garden' for visitors. Cemented routes are created for easy movement since this is a rain catchment area. The ground in some areas, along the cemented walkway are loose, slippery and moist. For insects lovers be extra careful, you might encounter with some crawlies while taking pictures or looking for ladybugs....

As a FOREIGNER, I was not as impressed as expected. It was only 5rm for foreigners, but that is only access to one cave. It was VERY CROWDED (Friday). It is about a ten minute walk through the cave. The walkway is over top the river flowing through the cave, so it's hard to admire the flowing water. The walkway and lights are well maintained, but it is definitely a tourist cave, targeted at Malaysians and taking advantage of foreigners. There was a gallery nearby, but no one could tell is what was inside but we would have to pay to go inside. The second cave required more payment to see, and it looks like extremely few people go to see it, as there were about a thousand people at the main cave, and there was only employees near the second cave. The fee schedule said it was 80rm per group (up to 10 people) to see. At the counter, the guy told me it would be 100 for a group since I was a foreigner, but I need to go to the ticket counter to pay. At the ticket counter, they told us it would be 100rm EACH to see because we were foreigners. They had no English brochure and presumably, no English guide. There was very few English signage among the property as well. There was no listing of a FOREIGNER charge for this cave, so I felt they were scamming me. I was willing to pay local price as I was eager to see the cave, but they did not speak much English at the counter and wanted me to pay so much extra for unfair reasons. They would have made money if they just treated us fairly, but they wanted to take advantage of us, so they made no money. It does not make sense. I recommend NOT going to this cave if you are a foreigner. There are many other Caves to see that are better, and...

Kelam Cave, located in the picturesque town of Kaki Bukit in Perlis, Malaysia, is a hidden gem for nature lovers and adventure enthusiasts. This limestone cave, which stretches over 370 meters, is renowned for its natural beauty and the fascinating experiences it offers visitors. The cave is easily accessible via a well-maintained path and a steel bridge that runs along the cave’s entrance, providing stunning views of the surrounding forest and the clear, cool river below.

Inside, the cave is a wonder of natural formations, with impressive stalactites and stalagmites, as well as a unique, dimly lit atmosphere that adds to the sense of adventure. The cave is not overly challenging to explore, but visitors should be prepared for a slightly slippery walk, especially in the humid conditions. Guided tours are available, providing insightful information about the cave’s history and the various flora and fauna that inhabit the area.

One of the highlights of Kelam Cave is the experience of walking through the cave’s narrow passages and occasionally crossing small streams inside. The surrounding area is peaceful, with a few picnic spots and small eateries, making it an ideal location for a half-day trip.

Overall, Kelam Cave offers a memorable and relatively easy adventure for those looking to experience Malaysia’s natural beauty in a serene, less...
