Once I reached the peak of this mountain, Karen looked at me and asked if I wanted a banana. I was really hungry because we skipped breakfast and lunch just to get up this mountain.

I only took one banana that day and it made all the difference. If gave me the energy and confidence to tread through the forest with ease. It felt like I was a hunter on a prowl for dinner.

Unfortunately, after a quarter of the way through towards the end, my bowels started acting up. It was as though the energetic banana has been spent and now wants to be expelled from my body.

Alas, I couldn’t answer natures call then. Not when I was deep in the forest. My body was aching to excrete though. I wanted to go! I needed to go!

I rushed my way through the forest. At times I creeped behind some trekkers silently. I felt as though they could feel me sometimes. They could sense that my bowels were about to burst. I caught a glimpse of their gaze as I tried to communicate with them through telepathy that I needed to poop so bad.

Fortunately they gave me way, I was grateful. The journey felt long, I nearly got lost with my friends as we were figuring out which way was correct. Sometimes I had to follow my gut’s feeling and walk the path confidently in order to excrete the banana in a safe location.

Towards the exit, I could hear laughter. As though there’s a group of people at the exit. Indeed their was. I rushed myself out. Seeking the opportunity to use the restroom. Fortunately there wasn’t a queue for it and I was lucky I got to use the door that could be locked!

Overall, I enjoyed my adventure and will take note to not eat before and during a hike. Only to eat once I know there is a safe place to answer...

It's my first visit to this place.

No designated carparks available, only illegal parking along the roadside is available.

We purposely choose a weekday for the trail walk to avoid crowd.

Entrance fee of RM 2 for an adult and RM 1 for a child is required. Cash term. I didn't see if they receive cashless payment. Receipt will be issued. A pass card will also be issued along which need to be returned when we are out from the trail. It's a way to keep track if all hikers are out.

Pleasant trail walking day, with minimal crowd. No rush, no "tailgaters", very enjoyable trail walk at own pace.

One hour to reach the peak, another hour out to the entrance, total 2 hours if you want to do it like me without rest for ascending and taking photos in between trail walking while descending.

Feeling safe along the trail because there are many sign along the trail, will not get lost easily, unless you purposely cross the line into the forbidden route.

Saw previous reviews that there're many fallen trees blocking the route, but it was all cleared during this hike.

Expect to wet your shoes along the way, especially after rainy days because many spots of stagnant water noted all along the trail. My legs are not long enough to jump and avoid them. My hiking shoes got messy a little but that's not an issue.

Recommend to wear long pants to avoid getting cuts from grass, trees, rocks...

The view at the peak is not rewarding enough for myself. No great views, no fresh air. It's just a highway view, with some green and the rest are buildings.

Nice spot for easy hike. Kids friendly...

Visited 26/06/2022, a bittersweet reunion with my once fav trail. My last visit being just before our MCO lockdown, a very distant 830 days ago. Knowing the administrative changes that had occured, I naively hoped that nothing had changed, but alas! I should have known better, as the word "Community" seems to have been tellingly removed from the name (KDCFR to KDFR). Many aspects remained ther same, and what changed are subtle to many. But to me, having done close to 400 runs here, and having led hundreds of hikers at KDCFR, to me, it was enough to change its soul. Its akin to meeting up with your college-days partner in crime in so many long term memory creation moments of decades ago, hoping to recapture the long lost feeling of vitality and excitement, only to find your former BFF once reckless with youthful abandon, is now a mellowed and appropriately responsible husband and father. Razor wire fences have closed of the many entrances. Tricky sections are made easy. Entire trails are closed off. KDCFR has been tamed, civilised, domesticated, nuetered. But I'm hardest hit by the fact that I can no longer do...

Better go early if you wanna explore different trails. Location Have to take grab or by car. The nerest MRT station is Damansara or Surin. Entrance fee: $2/person Once walk into the entrance, the guard will give you the ticket and a pass to return when you finish. Also you have to sign in the time you enter. There is a toilet right next to the entry point. There are some signs on the way, but first timer can go straight and follow the sign, don’t make any turns. This will lead you to the way to the peak. The first junction you will see a sign of Scout Trail, next will be Serenity Trail. The final junction before the last part of the peak, you will come to a point which has a sign pointing to Unity Trail, keep going to the Unity Trail, you should be able to reach the peak. If you are not going to Serenity Trail, you could also see the view outside the park. Be careful to come here after heavy rain, the trail is slippery and muddy. The trails are fully covered by the trees, not much expose to the sun.

Where your Sunday morning hike meets your quarter-life crisis. Kota Damansara Community Forest is where city folk go to “reconnect with nature” and immediately remember they haven’t exercised since 2019. Surprisingly lush for a forest hemmed in by highways, condos, and bubble tea shops, this green lung offers multiple trails, some well-marked, others clearly mapped by the spirit of misadventure. One moment you’re strolling under a canopy of trees, the next you’re googling “symptoms of leech bites” with 3G reception. Weekends are peak time for sweaty joggers, camera-toting bird nerds, and overly enthusiastic couples testing their relationship on a jungle incline. If you’re lucky, you might spot a macaque or a monitor lizard judging your cardio levels. Bring water, wear proper shoes, and prepare to get humbled by a 70-year-old aunty with trekking poles and zero body fat. Bonus: it’s only a short drive from IKEA, so you can reward yourself with meatballs and existential dread right after.
