Road trip to Kapit . Interesting long journey via Kanowit town. But the road access is not yet fully open to public yet. Need to note the opening road block time. 1) from 6:30 am to 8 am 2) From 12:00 am to 1:30 pm. 3) From 6:pm to 9:00 pm. Hilly road and a bigger vehicle is better for the climb. The whole journey takes about two and half hours from Kanowit. The road block is about one and half hour's drive from Kanowit, so if you can start from Kanowit town at 4:30 pm (or 5:am or 10:30 am depending on your time to cross) and in time to pass through the road block opening at 6:00 pm. There is only one road block. Book your hotel online first before going otherwise problems might arise .....) Visiting of longhouses are not welcome yet as they fear the...

There's also a town council operated "Rumah Temuai" or hostel for RM50 per night.....people are friendly and they try their best to make you feel at home. It would be better if you find a local guide that can take you and visit the nearby longhouses or explore the many tributary rivers up the mighty Rajang river. I would Recommend the Pelagus river...
