Road trip to Kapit . Interesting long journey via Kanowit town. But the road access is not yet fully open to public yet. Need to note the opening road block time. 1) from 6:30 am to 8 am 2) From 12:00 am to 1:30 pm. 3) From 6:pm to 9:00 pm. Hilly road and a bigger vehicle is better for the climb. The whole journey takes about two and half hours from Kanowit. The road block is about one and half hour's drive from Kanowit, so if you can start from Kanowit town at 4:30 pm (or 5:am or 10:30 am depending on your time to cross) and in time to pass through the road block opening at 6:00 pm. There is only one road block. Book your hotel online first before going otherwise problems might arise .....) Visiting of longhouses are not welcome yet as they fear the...

Small town in the heart of Sarawak the Iban heart land...once only accessible by express boat but now if you like off road driving can be accessed using plantation gravel road. If you're planning to spend the night make sure you call the few available hotels in advance cause they're not on airbnb.. There's also a town council operated "Rumah Temuai" or hostel for RM50 per night.....people are friendly and they try their best to make you feel at home. It would be better if you find a local guide that can take you and visit the nearby longhouses or explore the many tributary rivers up the mighty Rajang river. I would Recommend the Pelagus river...

Kapit is a small town in Sarawak East Malaysia, Very small city Take a round and its finished, But its very lively, people are welcoming and up to date, More traditional eating options but no international food chains, for fast food only option is Sugar Bun which is a local Sarawakian brand, Kapit Square is very lively with people of all ages hanging out and there are stalls of food and drinks, Only way to reach Kapit is via speed boats in Rajang River from the nearest big city Sibu, it takes three hours to reach and last boat leaves roughly at 3...

Don't think that you're escaping the hustle and bustle of the city by going here. However, the long and winding road leading here will definitely give you a pleasant sight as it will seem like the rural and modern world converge at this place, in the heart of Sarawak. 🏞️🌳🌊 Note: It's recommended to use 4-wheel pickup trucks for a more pleasant journey as well as ample space to bring the lots of stuff back home.

Located right in the middle of Kapit town surrounded by shophouses, express and boat jetty and petrol filling station. The traffic flow become worst when people start parking by the road side to shop and queue to buy petrol. I think kapit need bigger town square for any festival or public gathering.
