My favourite place to jog. Basically a secondary forest with proper paved walkway. The walkway are more comfortable to use now since the last renovation that they did, now can fit up to three people walking abreast. I like to jog at the big 1.6km loop, which is considerable distance to not loop the same parts frequently. The only "downside" is, it is very popular, there are times that the parking is so full that you can't find a proper parking spot. Oh that and oblivious slow walkers that chit chat blocking the whole path- and I am not talking about the monkeys.
Wish there are more places like this in Kuching that forestry or council could create for recreation. Look around you, every park in Kuching is packed in the evening, and especially on weekends- Pustaka, Hui Sing Park, Friendship Park, Reservoir Park, MBKS- People need more green spaces!
More parks, less...

Parking is rather limited to avoid arriving late. Patrons are required to register their name and some basic personal information but there is no payment required.
There are news of monkeys roaming the area which is true. Sighting of fairly large family groups of these monkeys is common occurrence. But once human goes into their path they disperse and go out of our way. So I never feel unsafe despite seeing them around. But I guess one should go there eating and drinking, tempting these poor fellas.
One of the tracks is still under renovation after 6 months. Part of the entrance area has also been undergoing ground works for some time now. A bit of sight...
Read moreI am very proud for Kuching to have such a nice forest reserve where we can do our jogging and walking exercise. The only down side is that you need to write down your name and ID before entering. However, none has put down their real name and ID for fear that personal info are leaked or abused. Afterall, your IC are not requested and checked. In fact, I note that those written on the list are full of illegible writing! Just wonder why this is required. It is wasting the visitors' time and wasting our human resources which can be put to a more productive use. Besides, many a time, there are no one stationed at the entrance and everyone can go in freely! Hope this redundant process would be...
