Ample free parking (but not for long because parking charges will start after Raya 2025). Lots of items on offer but not necessarily on the shelves. Make sure you are charged correctly during checkout because often prices can be different (usually higher). Prices displayed are often inaccurate due to offer period already over or price tags placed on wrong shelves. For example, the picture below seems to show taro (yam) offer price at RM4.99/kg but when you bring your selection to be weighed, you will discover (if you are careful) that it's actually RM8.88/kg because the price tag is meant for another product. So, if you are not careful, you may think you have bought the item at a very good price. But in fact, you have been fooled (again?). Sometimes a wrong item can be keyed in too. It's always safer to double check.
There are often not enough trolleys during peek periods. Maybe it's because trolleys are allowed to be taken anywhere you want (even home) as can be seen abandoned all over the neighborhood.
Overall, it's still a better supermarket to shop at compared to others as prices are generally more reasonable.
Update on "Free Parking - 1st 2 hours" As usual terms & conditions apply but where the hell are the t & c? Found out later there is a thick stack of printed notices with the relevant t & c on the reverse side placed at the customer service counter. Lots of confusion and complaints can be avoided by just including the t & c on the prominent parking notices displayed at entrances instead of wasting money on...
Read moreUPDATE: (Nov '22) I thought I would give Tesco/Lotus a second chance. The audacity of the staff to follow me around the store then demand to search my bag. They profiled me at the entrance and didn't greet me, but proceeded to just stare. Every aisle I went down the workers stopped stocking the shelves and started waiting at the end of each aisle I went down trying to be inconspicuous. The nerve. If my family wasn't visiting from abroad and I didn't need bulk items, I would have left the cart after they asked to search my bag. I will only be returning to visit the shops on the ground floor. There's no hope for bad leadership and management. I've been in Shah Alam for almost a year now. I was so excited to visit Tesco because of the other expats that raved about the items they carry. I frequent the store because they carry many brands I like. However, my kids and I tiptoe through the store because the floors are always dirty. We hold our breath as we get closer to the meat department because it smells 😷 horrible. When it's time to check out the conveyor built is filthy and wet from meat spills. Or we are greeted by small roaches. I bought wet wipes to clean before we put our groceries down. Please sanitize the store and teach cashiers how to wipe up spills. Please protect customers from cross contamination...
Read moreI would like to lodge a complaint regarding a female cashier at Lotus Shah Alam. I had an unpleasant experience at the counter with a fair-skinned, plus-sized woman (unfortunately, I do not know her name) who displayed a very unfriendly attitude. She made a disgusted face and sighed, even though I had already taken the initiative to double the plastic bags for the prawns myself. Her reaction was completely unnecessary and rude.
This is not the first time I have encountered such behaviour from her. I have had similar unpleasant experiences with her on several occasions before, which makes this even more disappointing.
Based on her attitude, I believe she is not suitable for a cashier position where good customer service is essential. I kindly suggest that management consider assigning her to a different department that does not require direct interaction with customers.
Thank you for your attention and...
