I am a resident of Mgarr and always drive past the sign for Ta Hagrat, meaning to have a look to see if it is worth visiting with friends one day. Just went out for a walk, saw the signpost and walked down to the site. There is no actual information about the site itself outside of the gate, but there is on the wall, half a metre inside the gate, which I went to read. As soon as I stood there, a female security guard came out of her box 20 metres away and asked for my ticket. I explained that I wasn't looking to walk around the site now, I merely wanted to read the information and come back another time. The security guard then told me that I am not allowed to read the information literally inside the gate without a ticket. What a ridiculous and rude way to treat a potential, future customer(s), especially those that walk off the street to look and don't have any prior knowledge...

I hate to do bad reviews.I had asked at a tourist information office for bus details. She got on the website and confirmed i had to catch bus 101.The bus goes every hour.just missed the bus.It turned out the temple was closed anyway.I took two photographs. Not much else to do in the circumstances and the site is very small. It's at best the size of a tennis court and there are better ways to spend your precious time. I can't believe people book and pay to come here.13.11.2017..A lot of photographs posted here show photographs of other sites, even some of Gigantica, which this place definitely isn't .Ok if you are still curious and if you feel you have to see for yourself......It's 2019 and i was scrolling through my review photographs and had to add more comment to this place.I wish i hadn't hunted this place down and wasted an afternoon back in 2017.Say it...

It's quite a small temple site (compared with others in Malta) but exactly how many Neolithic Temple sites are left in Europe that you can visit? Amazing to think that it was built over 5,000 years ago! Walking in the footsteps of ancient men! I see other reviews where they complain about getting a ticket, I would advise buying them online. When we visited we went to the cafe in the square but they had sold out and directed us to the local council office, unfortunately this was closed. We went to the actual site and were told that we could buy tickets next to the other site in the town Ta Skorba, so we walked the 1 km there and bought a ticket in the cafe next to it (and had a delicious lunch as well!). Then walked back to...

Nice to see but if you’re not interested in megalithic temples, you probably won’t enjoy it as much. The tickets are expensive for what it is - 10€ per person. It normally includes an audio guide and a 4D experience, however because of covid these are not on offer at the moment. Nonetheless the ticket price is still the same - even though you are not being provided with the same experience. Seems like poor management which is reflected by the number of tourists visiting the site - on a Thursday in high season (afternoon) there were literally 3 other people...The management should encourage more tourists to visit by slashing the ticket price half now.

My recommendation: DON’T GO THERE!!! Maybe I can’t appreciate that sort of culture enough or it’s just the way Malta Heritage rips off people: Tickets NOT like on the website just for this temple, only as package with Skorba Temple which is even more in poor condition. Each text sign is bleached by the sun and you don’t get any more information. Some parts of the site are locked (I see the point) but all you see after entering you can also see from the fence. Maybe the other temples are more worth it, but after this experience we erased megalithic culture from our holiday plans.
