Wonderful Hotel, customer delight guaranteed. The staff are brilliant. Top marks to our room attendant Jungoo. The people who run the bar are brilliant make sure you look up Deven the head bar manager and his team, Ganesha, Big Dave, Swadesh, Dylan and Tanujh. They will make sure you are never without a drink or good service. Deven has created a wonderful atmosphere and culture in his team 5☆. The rooms are large, well appointed and spotless. They have UK and EU plug adaptors in the rooms. The activities are great with lots of on the water activities, top tip seek out Deepak and go sailing on the 15' hotel catamaran. Deepak was brilliant. We saw dolphins regularly and also spotted a whale. The horse riding is not to be missed. Lovely well kept ex race horses and Shetland ponies. The food was always good and varied in all the restaurants, make sure you book in as soon as you arrive. Special thanks to Vereen in Banyan for being a great host. As was Vimla who also greeted you with a great smile everyday. The Chateau Mon Desir is not to be missed, the wine is pricey but the food is Devine! Brilliant service from the team. The Spa is large and the saunas are great. Treatments were varied. A very lovely setting. Don't miss a trip to the Botanical gardens on a bike with Vic. He was charming, funny, multi-lingual and very knowledgeable 5☆. The one area of criticism I have is the safety of guests and staff in the sea. I am a qualified sailor with my own yacht and I have a powerboat 2 license so feel I have a justified opinion. There is a very small mixed use area which has power boats (3-4 × 5- 7M, outboard speedboats, 115 to 300hp) performing water skiing and pulling inflatables at speeds over 30knots sharing with Stand up paddle boards, lazer yachts, pedelos & wind surfers. This in itself would appear to anyone with common sense a major risk that could easily be mitigated with better zoning or speed enforcement. This is further compounded by a complete disregard for the killcords on the keys. When I asked one of the staff to put it on he either didn't know what it was or pretended not to know. This is a serious life changing or fatal accident waiting to happen. I must add that the Maratim shares this space, speed boats and pleasure craft with a neighbouring hotel who are jointly acting with this laissez-faire attitude. It's either plain ignorance e.g lack or training or disregard for safety. I can't fault the skippers for their boat handling skill, they are clearly well practised but in a commercial environment and at zero cost to implement I think both hotels should do a lot more to change the safety culture on the water. Lastly there is a house reef but unlike some wonderful one's I have been to in Sharm and Taba in Egypt the reefs in the bay are 99.9% destroyed, there is coral debris littering the reef floor ( feet, propellor and anchor damage). It might be a worthy and profitable cause for the local hotels to take some interest and protect and revive what they have. That's my moaning over with, this is a great resort and I look forward to going back there in the future.

I spent 3 nights at the Maritim, and enjoyed my time there although there were some issues. Pros: - Giant tortoises on site! - There's a nature walk/jogging trial exclusive to Maritim guests that takes you to the Ruins of Balaclava, which is a nice building to visit, and you can also visit some animals (goats, rabbit, dogs, horses at the equestrian centre) and my favourite, giant tortoises :) - There is a lovely pond near reception with koi fish and turtles. - There was even a monkey who paid us a visit during breakfast :S - There's a gym, pool table, table tennis, two pools, water sports, giant chess, mini-golf. Everything you'd expect at a 5-star resort - We were greeted with a fruit platter in our room, which was a nice touch - The room could be entered/exited from the back, which was helpful as the reception was far away and this option made it a bit closer - The room has kettle, tea, coffee, mini-fridge, security safe - Hotel was quiet and relaxing when I stayed in early-Nov 2022 Cons: - The room needs an upgrade and proper maintenance - On arrival, the room had a broken toilet seat, which I informed staff and they fixed it quickly. There was also a broken handle on a cupboard which was never fixed. - The room was full of mosquitoes (as well as moths and ants), I spent a good number of hours trying to kill them to avoid getting bitten in my sleep. The hotel provides a vape to deter them, but for some reason they didn't plug this in, and in fact, unplugged it during our stay - Due to all the killing of mosquitoes, I left dead bugs in several places (on the walls, on the mirrors) - none of these were cleaned up during our stay, so the level of service from the cleaning staff is extremely poor. - We didn't get refills of bottles of drinking water, used glasses weren't replaced, there was no hand soap in the bathroom (we had to request it). - The TV only had one channel in English, and the reception was poor so it kept cutting out. - Service at meal times was not great. At our first breakfast buffet, the guests were serving themselves tea and coffee as the staff were not visible. - At dinner, a particularly unfriendly lady said one or two words before plonking down the bill on our table, as if she wanted to get rid of us - Food was plentiful but not the best quality. Lots of flies around, sitting on the yoghurt bowls, and one even swimming in the vanilla sauce. Having the nature walk and giant tortoises made up for a lot of the downsides for me, but wouldn't for everyone.

Just had 2 weeks here. No complaints, very amicable staff, grounds are substantial and well maintained. Really enjoyed the food, especially the wide variety available for lunch and dinner in the Belle Vue buffet restaurant although I think the selection for children was very limited. All of the 4 other restaurants had menu items that were included within the all inclusive package but they were quite limited, most of the more appealing meals attracted a further charge. Beach is sheltered due to the bay and good for swimming. Plenty of sun beds at the beach, we found that sun beds were still available most days by 9am by the pools, sadly there were still guests out a dawn putting towels down at “their spot” and 2 to 3 hours later still had not appeared which I think is incredibly selfish and shameful behaviour. The hotel has a 1 1/2hour towel removal policy but I never saw this enforced. Two pools were clean and around 1 to 1.3m deep. Staff regularly came round to take drink orders at the pool side. We didn’t tip on these occasions or after meals, instead when we checked out there’s a tip box that they ask you to use instead, seems a fairer way to do it, as they all contribute to make your stay what you’d want. Our room was a good size, huge bed, satellite tv with sport, news and film channels. Mini bar well stock with basics. Tea and coffee making facility Twin sinks, walk in shower room, huge stand alone bath. All rooms look out toward the ocean, lovely view of the gardens down to the waters edge from our balcony. Lots of water sports available but we didn’t partake. I did go Scuba diving with the diving school on site, loved it. Well equipped, good instructors and great guys to have a bit of banter with too! Water out on the reef was crystal clear, saw a turtle on one dive and plenty of fish species, no sharks though they are much further out. Amazing sunsets, some of which I have posted pictures of on google maps. Temps each day ranged between 23 and 29 degrees, not uncomfortably humid either which was a pleasant surprise, probably a different matter in high summer. Some days were more overcast with very light rain for a few minutes here and there but we didn’t lose one day to the weather. One night we had torrential rain, that was it. In summary, nice location, not really for families with young children, ideal for couples and those with older kids. Will recommend to friends and family.

This is a tricky review. The resort. It’s views, amenities and staff are absolutely excellent. Well beyond 5 star. But certain aspects, worn this being a 5 star resort are just a massive let down that compromise the place and will likely see us not returning to this hotel in future visits to Mauritius. It’s worth noting I’ve been here on more than 5 occasions with my family over 15 years at least. - Just after arriving we made our way to reserve tables at the various restaurants the hotel offers (there are many and they impressive for sure) we were told all restaurants are booked out until the day we leave. This is very frustrating as you can imagine (we since returned to the booking a few times and managed to get one but it’s not a premium experience at all) - The quarter deck, after around 8/9pm was getting full and a building a great atmosphere and all of a sudden service seems to halt, I went and checked and the bar, serving at least 50 people around it, has one staff member (he was brilliant but totally overwhelmed) upon querying this the manager on shift just explained it’s out of his control and that it is what it is. He doesn’t control staffing. Fair enough. But again. Not premium or a 5 star experience. - In the past having come here we spent all day skiing and on the water, upon returning we find the skiing activities, a main attraction at any 5 star resort, is a paid activity. With 3 children this is not expected or convenient. Other hotels, lower in star rating have a better offering. - We have an all inclusive package and it covers a fair amount but there’s simple things like Bombay gin which is not included and just doesn’t make sense. - flies are a pain and there’s none of the contraptions on tables to rid them of sitting on your food, again, just not what you’d expect. Over and above this, the individuals who work here are excellent. The views are amazing. The low points are all management errors in my view and it’s a shame, simple fixes but we unlikely to be around to see them. My suggestion would be to double check details like these when booking, the good old days an all inclusive package at a 4/5 star resort meant you didn’t need to worry about anything. This isn’t the case anymore.

First and foremost, I would like to extend my sincere thanks to Manoj, the duty manager, who consistently did his best to assist us during our brief stay. His professionalism and efforts were appreciated, even though the overall hotel experience fell far below expectations. We had initially planned to stay at Maritim for 9 nights but ended up leaving after just 26 hours. If you're looking for a true 5-star experience, I strongly advise looking elsewhere—this property is closer to a 2-star hotel in both service and facilities. Our "all-inclusive" package turned out to be quite misleading. Upon arrival, it became clear that what was advertised as "all" inclusive was actually very limited. Breakfast was particularly disappointing: we were served mouldy fruit, the hash browns were excessively oily with little actual potato, and the bread and pastries were left uncovered, attracting flies due to poor ventilation and hygiene. The hotel itself is extremely dated and not well maintained. The rooms were not clean, and even basic amenities such as an iron and ironing board were surprisingly difficult to obtain. The service in the buffet area was another major letdown. Staff appeared disinterested and poorly trained, lacking even the most basic hospitality etiquette. The most alarming incident occurred during dinner, when we discovered a large fly cooked into one of the potato wedges. We immediately alerted the chef, who nonchalantly removed the contaminated wedge without offering any apology or explanation. At that point, we knew we could not continue our stay. To their credit, hotel management acknowledged the issue and allowed us to check out the following morning without being charged for the remaining 8 nights. We moved to Sugar Beach, another 5-star resort, and the contrast was night and day. The food there was fresh and hygienic, the staff were warm and attentive, and the facilities were clean and beautifully maintained. In conclusion, I cannot recommend Maritim to anyone seeking a quality stay in Mauritius. Save yourself the disappointment and consider other options—you deserve better for your time and money.

I understand this review might seem over the top, but it is truly the way I see it and feel about my experience there. I visited my best friend for the past 3 weeks and went to this hotel on several occasions. The location is absolutely perfect. It has a wonderful property which is properly taken care of (unlike some other 5-star properties I've seen). After entering the gate you have a a long driveway through the garden to the hotel which actually makes the location very peaceful away from the road. The beach is one of the nicest hotel beaches I have seen until now with an all-time perfect view of the sunsets. I tried several restaurants, such as Anno (incl. The Distillery), La Marée on the beach and La Kaz (local cuisine). The food was of very good quality and tasted very well. Also the service was friendly, attentive and caring. Of course concerning specific knowledge there is always room for improvement. It would be wrong to say they knew absolutely everything, but that is not my expectation either. If they did not know the answer they will try to find out and will get back to you and that is what I expect. Service in the beach is just the same. It is quite hot at this time of year so I drank more than usual (water 😉) and not once did i need to ask for more. I just came. I also went on the hotel's glass bottom boat to look at the corals and took an hour on a paddle boat. Great fun. The reception was always very friendly and helpful. Being new I didn't know my way around and I was always greeted before actually standing at the desk. They saw me coming and usually greeted at a distance of 3-5m. Nothing wrong with that. As not being a guest in the hotel I paid the normal prices, which I thought to be fair for a 5-star hotel. It's not cheap, but it isn't too expensive either and in a hotel like this I don't expect it to be cheap. To be honest, I actually expected more 😅. Absolutely a place i would recommend and I will go again next year, when I visit my friend again.
