Melkbos beach had always been an absolute favorite and a place close to many hearts. A flat, couples of km long Beach, that soft sand everyone is always after, and the ocean that never disappoints. If you want to surf, Melkbos is not your beach. Melkbos is for the rest of us, for walking, swimming, playing beach games, spending family time and having a royal good old time. The water floor is great - it is very flat, so you have to walk quite a distance into the water before it will meet you at hip height or chest height. What I like about that is that you really make a conscious decision of how deep you want to go. Low tide you can literally just throw yourself on your back and drift, letting the water gently raise and lower you as the waves roll to shore. Don't underestimate high tide - I've had some good waves knocking me head over heels to shore (Melkbos knows how to steal shades off your face lol, it has 2 pairs of mine and counting), but the laugh afterwards is always worth it. Around the beach, you can buy your ice cream, go to restaurants, or go to the shop for your goodies. There's also 0ublic toilets spaced out along the beach, and during festive season you will always have competent life guards eagle eyeing you, which is great. One word of advice - that water is cooooooold - so after your swim, in the heat of Xmas, don't think the sun is only warming you. Put sunblock on, or you will come home lobster colored and peeling in a few days. But if you want a day with the family and the dog, go give Melkbos a try, you won't be sorry. Not even on 2 Jan, the busiest day of the year for the beach will you not find space on the beach for you and you loved ones - it's more than big enough. And if grandma and grandpa wants to come with and not sit on the sand, bring your gazebo or umbrella and chairs and park on the netly cur grass. Come have a moment...

If you're looking for a peaceful escape with breathtaking ocean views, Melkbosstrand is the perfect beach destination. Located on the northern edge of Cape Town, this quiet coastal town offers a pristine stretch of white sand, clear blue waters, and a relaxed atmosphere that makes it ideal for a scenic getaway.

The beach itself is wide and uncrowded, perfect for long walks along the shore while enjoying stunning views of Table Mountain in the distance. The sunsets here are truly magical, painting the sky with vibrant hues of orange and pink. The calm, refreshing waters make it a great spot for paddling, while the waves further out attract surfers looking for a good break.

Melkbosstrand is also a fantastic spot for families, with rock pools to explore and plenty of space for kids to play. There are charming cafés and seafood restaurants nearby, offering fresh catches of the day and delicious local cuisine. If you're a nature lover, keep an eye out for dolphins and even the occasional whale during migration season!

Whether you're visiting for a relaxing beach day, a scenic walk, or a surf session, Melkbosstrand is a hidden gem that perfectly balances tranquility and adventure. It's an absolute must-visit if you’re...

This small but busy town is always a nice break away from the big city life. We often go for a sunset walk on this beach. The beach is always kept nice and clean. You can walk your dog or go for an ice cream right on the beach front. There are several coffee shops and restaurants over looking the ocean. There is more than enough parking spot available a long the beach so you can enjoy nature even on a busy day. This beach is perfect for that jog you have been needing to get in for the week due to it's equel level sand. This also means you can take granny for a walk with you and it won't be to difficult for her to keep up. Definitely a must visit area when doing your Cape...
