Breath-taking paintings, furniture & memorabilia of the Zello y Zetina family in their home. Paintings, prints are from Spain, Italy, England, & a few Flemish ones as well. Most of the furniture was made in Puebla. Most of the pieces were from the 17th-19th century, & a spattering of more recent pieces. Unforgettable furniture & art work. Look for the large, ornately carved jewelry box ("Bargueno Espanol" from the 17th century). There are two ink drawings of the Biblioteca Palafoxiana, drawn at each end.--You'll be able to see how the library was used back then. Everything is in top condition & well preserved. A beautifully furnished home left to the city as a museum. There is an amazing collection of Pueblan, Mexican and European furniture, art, porcelain, glass (Baccarat, Murano), crystals, statues. El museo es un espacio privado, impecable, con guías atentos. Para mi sorpresa me encontré con Van Dyck, Murillo, Greco, Zurbarán, Cabrera, Goya, Cánova y otros nombres destacados del arte. La cristalería de Baccarat, el mobiliario con variados estilos incluyendo el Chippendale y las esculturas de varias épocas, son joyas exquisitas, transmiten el amor con que se integraron estas colecciones. Creo que el comité de la Fundación responsable de este magnífico lugar, pudiera evaluar en sus futuras mejoras, el introducir una museografía con sistemas inalámbricos de audio para visitas guiadas, así como fichas técnicas en idiomas adicionales, y señalización de su entrada para el turismo que abunda en Santo Domingo. Creo que permitir fotografías digitales sin flash y bajo una cuota o donativo adicional, puede ser una conveniencia más a las que ya existen.
