Read moreThe review is directed more to 'stari bar'. Yes, the old town and ruins are nice, but there is a massive scam going on that spoils the experience. On the road meters away from the official parking lot, 2 men block the road telling you the "the road is closed" or the "lot is full." A 3rd man then says he will let you park in his lot for 5 euros. The whole setup looked very unofficial, so we questioned these individuals, who then proceeded to get very aggressive. We dont like being scammed, so we decided to leave. As we were pulling away from the blockade. We watched another car "probably local" drive through at high speed, so we followed. Shortly after this man made blockage, we found an almost empty parking lot charging 2 euros to park. We asked the parking attendant about the men on the road, and he shrugged, saying he couldn't do anything about that. Our impression of the whole town was clouded by the parking scam, and we were on high guard for further such encounters. Although the town and castle remains were nice, I would NOT recommend based on the scammers. Nearby there is a very pleasant old town named "Ulcinj". Visit there instead. People are pleasant. We did not encounter any scams. Charming old town with beautiful views and lovely...
Read moreOld Bar is a beautiful historical site that's definitely worth visiting. Getting there is easy, despite what some reviews say about buses—my trip was smooth and on schedule both ways. The path to the fortress is lined with charming shops and cafes specializing in pomegranates. Entry costs 5€, and there's an app where you can learn about the history of various buildings by scanning QR codes.
The ruins of this ancient city offer a unique sense of connection to the past. With plenty of picturesque spots for photography and stunning views from the remaining walls, you can easily spend a few hours exploring. We visited on a sunny day in January and spent three hours walking around without even noticing how time flew by. Even in rainy weather, Old Bar has its charm—the solitude, old stones, and autumn scenery make for a very special experience.
Though the entrance fee may seem a bit steep, the experience is definitely worth it. Whether you're captivated by history, stunning views, or just looking for a peaceful place to explore, Old Bar won't disappoint. Just be mindful of ticks if you're bringing a pet, as they can be a nuisance. I highly recommend visiting, especially around sunset when the views are truly...
