Climbing and descending ridges, hill slopes, stone stairs and climbing snow while enduring the cold gives various experiences.
Trekking the ABC is the dream of every climber from around the world.
We were lucky because the guide, Ganesh Nuepane from White Himalaya Treks And Expedition and his assistant, Raj Nuepane, could speak English well, thus facilitating interaction throughout the expedition.
Ganesh and Raj always give us encouragement and motivation.
We were served rice, fries, coffee and hot tea to refresh our bodies. The cold weather started to bother us mentally as soon as we arrived in Jhinudanda, and we paid NPR150 (RM6) for a hot shower.
Allocate some NRP to buy food, hot water, mineral water or snacks. The higher the altitude of the guest house, the higher the price.
The second day tested the climbers' challenge as the distance from Jhinudanda to Bamboo was long and took up to nine hours to travel.
We went through winding paths, steep stair climbs and rocky paths to reach Chomrong, a hilltop village that not only presents a backdrop of the Himalayan Ranges.
Then we went down the stone stairs and crossed the river before reaching Lower Sinuwa for lunch. From Sinuwa, we continued the journey to Bamboo, which is at an altitude of 2,345 meters.
On the third day, we headed to Deurali, which is at an altitude of over 3,249 meters.
Participants were reminded of mountain sickness (AMS), which usually occurs after being at an altitude of more than 2,500 meters.
The journey takes up to seven hours at a moderate pace, not too fast to avoid AMS but not too slow to be separated from group members.
We started the climb on the fourth day with a true friend's determination and loyal spirit to help a friend.
He ran out of energy and was afflicted by mountain sickness but still managed to reach ABC.
Our success was greeted with snow and strong winds followed by blizzards.
On the fifth day of the climb, despite the weather, we flew the giant Jalur Gemilang measuring 12 meters wide, six meters high and...
Read moreThe Annapurna Circuit is a trek within the mountain ranges of central Nepal. The total length of the route varies between 160–230 km (100-145 mi), depending on where motor transportation is used and where the trek is ended. This trek crosses two different river valleys and encircles the Annapurna Massif. The path reaches its highest point at Thorung La pass (5416m/17769 ft), reaching the edge of the Tibetan plateau. Most trekkers hike the route anticlockwise, as this way the daily altitude gain is slower, and crossing the high Thorong La pass is easier and safer. The mountain scenery, seen at close quarters includes the Annapurna Massif (Annapurna I-IV), Dhaulagiri, Machhapuchhre, Manaslu, Gangapurna, Tilicho Peak, Pisang Peak, and Paungda Danda. Numerous other peaks of 6000-8000m in elevation rise from the Annapurna range.
The trek begins at Besisahar or Bhulbhule in the Marshyangdi river valley and concludes in the Kali Gandaki Gorge. Besisahar can be reached after a seven-hour drive from Kathmandu. The trail passes along paddy fields and into subtropical forests, several waterfalls and gigantic cliffs, and various villages.
Annapurna Circuit has been voted as the best long-distance trek in the world, as it combined, in its old full form, a wide variety of climate zones from tropics at 600 m asl to the arctic at 5416 m asl at the Thorong La pass and cultural variety from Hindu villages at the low foothills to the Tibetan culture of Manang Valley and lower Mustang. Continuing construction of a road has shortened the trail and changed the villages. The Beisahar-Manag road has been built which passes through the trekking trail much of the time. With the construction of road, mountain biking is becoming popular, with Mustang,...
