Gorkha is 124 km west from Kathmandu. It takes about 5-6 hours by bus. The trip to Gorkha from Kathmandu is full of scenic beauty alongside the Trishuli, Marshyangdi and Daraundi River. Gorkha is the ancient seat of shah dynasty. Gorkha is the birthplace of late king Prithivi Narayan Shah (born in 1723), who unified small territories into strong nation. It is because of Gorkha that Nepali soldier inherited their name as Gorkhalis. The artistic, majestic, fort, a palace, and the temple perched high on the top of the hill around 1000 feet above the Gorkha Bazaar, the Gorkha palace is the major attraction in Gorkha. The palace complex offers attractive views of mountains like Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Manaslu, Himchuli, Lamjung Himal and other peaks in the north and lush green valley in the south.

Gorkha Kalika Temple, located in Gorkha, Nepal, is a significant spiritual destination that carries immense historical and religious importance. My visit to the temple was a profound and enriching experience.
The temple is dedicated to Goddess Kali, also known as Kalika, and is a revered place for Hindu devotees. The temple’s location offers a beautiful scenic view of the Mt.Manaslu, Annapurna, and Langtang range.
One of the unique aspects of the temple is its consecrated space. You can make offerings but cannot go close to the deity. The door to the deity is always covered by a cloth, adding to the mystery and reverence of the place. During non-busy hours, there is space to sit and meditate.
However, the temple was affected by the devastating earthquake and its aftershocks, which resulted in its current dilapidated condition. Despite this, the faith among the devotees hasn’t shaken.
Overall, Gorkha Kalika Temple offers a spiritual retreat for those seeking peace and solace. It’s a must-visit for anyone interested in the history of Nepal and Hindu...
