Chhen bed&breakfast — Hotel in Gorkha

😊: The price. It's the reason we rate it 2 not 1 point. We never had to leave a review like this, but our stay was outrageous on 23rd-24th - 25th dec!!!. 😢: Never had to leave a review like this :( We respect that you get what you pay for, however some basics would be still expected. Check in - pick up the keys at the bakery, pay then wait for your change for a day. Room - bedsheets were the only clean things in the room. The carpet was extremely dirty, has never been hoovered, TV not working, shelf hanging off, bathroom filthy, noisy street, the whole building looked derelict. You can only get hot shower if you ask the staff at the bakery (or WhatsApp) to turn it on. In half an hour they knock on your door, if they can switch it off now. This only worked on day one, after that, there was NO HOT WATER, but we were given a bucket and hand water boiler.

But worst of all... LOCATION & SAFETY The hotel shares the building with a bank. The bank's security guard locks the door at 9pm every evening. You are not being warned at all!! We came back from dinner at 9:45 pm and he refused to let us in! After 25 minutes laughing at our face from the other side of the gate he let us in, as we were ready to call the police for help. Next evening, we asked him on the way out (8pm) to wait for us. He said it is not possible. Now we were being warned, he will not open the gate after 9pm. He was very rude both days. The hotel owner couldn't help much, he said on WhatsApp chat that this is the rule. We just don't understand how is it possible that we were not warned by hotel?? And more importantly, that gate is locked all night, which is a MASSIVE SAFETY PROBLEM as in case of emergency or fire there is no way out of the building. There was no staff on site at all at night and we were the only people in the whole building overnight locked in. Also there are no emergency exit signs anywhere.

We new Gorkha was a basic quiet town, but nevertheless we still expected...

I confirmed with the staff that there is hot shower here before booking, but I had never gotten hot water the whole night. I informed the staff at 8pm that I was going to take a shower, and he said he would inform me when hot water was ready. But until 10pm no one noticed me. I tried to contact them and the numbers they provided were not working at all. The next day I feedback to them, but they just tried to make some reasons for all the things having happened. If they had difficulties providing hot shower, they could just have told me. I think they are irresponsible, and I never get an apology. I would not recommend to stay here for poor...

I booked last minute to stay here as I was needing shelter from the rain on my way to Kathmandu. On arrival the owner was so kind and just welcoming, nothing was too much for him and he offered me food and towel straight away.|My room was clean, a really comfy bed and bedding and even a brand new bathroom.|The place is general is very clean and the food was nice, I only stayed one night but I could of stayed longer if I had time.
