This is a modest and charming museum with beautiful gardens, benches to rest on, and a playground for children. I think it serves as a folk museum representing the Gandaki Province, where Pokhara is located. The museum offers an easy-to-understand display of the traditions, culture, and characteristics of the ethnic groups in Gandaki Province. While it's not particularly large or meticulously organized, it certainly helps deepen your understanding of Nepal as a country where many different ethnicities coexist. Simply browsing the souvenir shops lining Lakeside, which sell items like kukris, provides only a limited glimpse into the culture. However, here, you can see actual everyday items, ornaments, weapons, musical instruments, and baskets that were once used, offering a deeper insight into the region's...

Pokhara Regional Museum, established in 1985 and inaugurated by King Gyanendra, offers a fascinating glimpse into the rich cultural tapestry of the Pokhara Valley. Located near the Old Bazaar, the museum showcases the traditions, lifestyles, and histories of various ethnic groups such as the Gurung, Thakali, and Magar. Through a collection of artifacts, including traditional costumes, household items, agricultural tools, and religious artifacts, visitors can explore the daily lives and cultural practices of these communities. The museum's exhibits also feature models of traditional houses and photographs depicting significant events and festivals. With its informative displays and welcoming atmosphere, the Pokhara Regional Museum provides an insightful experience for those interested in Nepal's...

It´s great to visit here if you are new generation and don't have proper knowledge about our different Nepalese cultural. It can help you to know about different culture with their traditional dance, dress, living style and many more. This museum have kept our dead traditions alive and I am happy that even if we forget about our history this museum will help to lept it alive. But there is something missing in naming of all items so if some related person is watching it be sure to update all name there....

The museum has 4 galleries that you can visit. You can learn a little bit about different Nepali casts, how they dress and where they live. There are some exhibits of tools and instruments. There is a diaporama (I believe that's the name) of a few traditional settings. There is one that shows you how they used to collect honey that was interesting. It is a short museum, it is not a must see but it was interesting enough for me. I learned things which made it worth the visit.
