Short hike, steps lead you all the way up. There is a small gazebo about 1/3 of the way up with a decent view. We had a friendly family of goats greet us on the way up. Do not take the steps all the way up, as they will lead you to a power station. About 10 steps before the stairs and, you will see a small clearing in the trees on the left side – head there. Pass by a large cactus and you will get to the viewing point – the view is astonishing. Make sure you bring a water bottle or two – Aruba is very sunny so stay hydrated! Definitely recommend this for a good photo opp and the view.

Steep hike right out of the parking area. About 587-610 steps (-120m). Railing only around the middle area. 4 Stars because it is short and limited in hiking options (you stay on the stairs for the most part). Not recommended with dogs since the stairs are tight for people walking up and down at the same times in certain areas without railings. Great for sunrise pics. Not sure about sunsets since it seemed to have a lot of cacti to the west. Google maps is a bit confused near the parking area at the base of the steps, but workable by looking at the map.

The view is worth it and amazing!!!!! I was able to easily navigate and find the place. Upon reaching here I was able to park and start my journey. It took me ~13min to get up to the top. Not going to lie I was a little out of breath so much sure you are well hydrated prior to leaving. Ounce up at the top I had to go towards the right side (there is an underneath path) to take these amazing pictures! Would definitely recommend this as an activity while in Aruba, especially if you are a hiker or just looking to exercise!

The Hooiberg Hiking Trail in Aruba is a challenging yet rewarding experience for the intrepid adventurer. Ascending over 500 steps straight up the mountain, this strenuous hike rewards those who are brave enough to conquer it with truly stunning panoramic views from the summit.

However, this trek is not for the faint of heart. The steep, unguarded climb along the trail can be daunting for those with a fear of heights, as there is no railing for a significant portion of the ascent. The narrow path must be navigated with caution, as hikers traveling in both directions vie for space.

For those willing to take on the challenge, the payoff is well worth it. The vistas from the top of the Hooiberg are simply breathtaking, providing a sweeping vista of Aruba's dramatic landscape. This is a must-see for avid hikers and adventurous spirits seeking an exhilarating and rewarding experience on the island.

While the Hooiberg Hiking Trail may not be suitable for everyone, those who possess the physical fitness and mental fortitude to tackle its rigorous ascent will be richly rewarded with a truly unforgettable experience and views that will linger long after...

Hiking up Hooiberg in Aruba is an exhilarating experience offering panoramic views of the island. The trail, though steep, is relatively short, making it accessible for most hikers. The 562 steps to the top wind through cacti and shrubs, providing glimpses of Aruba's diverse flora. The reward at the summit is breathtaking—the 360-degree view showcases Aruba's stunning landscape and the Caribbean Sea. The best time to go is early morning or late afternoon to avoid the heat and catch a mesmerizing sunrise or sunset. Don't forget water, sunscreen, and a camera for this...
