Toy and Carnival Museum "on stilts" — Attraction in Oosterhout

Surprising gem! Definitely must see. (Will come again). The website gives an impression of a small museum with traditional collections (do not touch) but in reality it's quite big, far from boring and contains plenty of Interactive stuff. The collections seem curated with a narrative (and not just things thrown into a room) so it's interesting for all ages. In one room I saw what must have been a phenakistoscope. I would love to show a copy of that to the kids so that they can experience how is an illusion of movement created. Seems to me it'd be a nice addition to the "voorstelling begint" room. We went today with our kid and had a lot of fun. It's small but very well kept and interesting museum. The ladies who are working over there are just amazing, they are warm , polite and kind persons. Erg leuk museum met veel bezienswaardig speelgoed. In een voormalig schoolgebouw is dit museum ontstaan. De entree met enthousiast personeel die uitleg geven over het museum. De looproute word uitlegt waarna je diverse themaruimtes bezoekt. 1.De wereld in het klein..2.Het poppenparadijs, 3. Stoer speelgoed, 4. Kom je spelen, 5. De voorstelling begint en als laatste Carnavalsmuseum. Sommige themaruimtes hebben lades en kasten die e. a. verbergen. Jeugd nostalgie komt weer tot leven. Je gaat terug in jou eigen speelgoedwereld van vroeger. Herkenningen van auto's, treinen, lego, meccano, barbie zijn zomaar wat voorbeelden.
