The worst restaurant at the beach. There are not enough people to work and you need to wait even 2 hours for the food. Sometimes guests are leaving, because no one took an order (even for a drink) for one hour or more. You can see workers running with food and drinks, because it is so busy that they can't manage anymore. Food is overpriced for how it looks like and how it tastes (especially tapas, they are the worst... don't order. Even nachos do not have any sauce). Steaks are good, but when it comes to the "burger"... it is not even beef. Meat for burger is mixed (pork/beef), which is unacceptable for me. If you pay this price, you expect the food to be good quality. Lasagnas are bought and prepared in microvawe. Most dishes are prepared in microwave or re-heated in. Sometimes you can have food that inside is still frozen... because it came out too fast from the kitchen and cooks didn't pay attention.
Drinks are not good enough either. Mojito and Sangria are from the box. No one on the bar pay attention to grammage for the drinks, everything is made by eye.
People are changing all the time, there are few stable people who work all the year, but most of waiters are from abroad and they only stay for one or two season... Probably no one would like to work like a robot with almost no breaks. You can see workers eating their food on the break very fast, because there is no time to catch a breath. I would recommend to visit this place only, if you want to agree with my opinion.
There are better places to spend your money than "De Piraat". "DOK14" (beutiful plates, very kind waiters who always have time for you and they do care). "De Boekanier" another beautiful pavilijoen with great tapas, food and...
Read moreBeautiful restaurant and location. The wood this place is made of is astonishing. There's lots of staff which ensures timely service. Food and drinks are delivered in minutes. Very kids friendly. Staff brought pencils and a nice big pirate boat drawing for our kids to enjoy themselves with. Quite some selection with beers. Also exotic ones. The Seef beer surprised me. Tidbit sweet and sour and very refreshing. Ribs of 18 euros were delicious. Pity there was quite a bit of fat in the meat. The way they were prepared was really good. The standard chilli sauce with it is a bit of a sad thing. Eat it without the sauce for the best experience. The mussels were delicious as well and the price of the day for them was 26 euros. It serves one person. They also got a double portion which also costs double the money, so 52 euro today which could vary based on the price of the day. Bread was okay, nothing too special. Same for the poffertjes. There's free WiFi. Toilets are clean. The place is accessible to wheelchairs and strollers. The pirate boat playship behind the restaurant is very nicely made and a lot of fun for kids. It's actually the reason that got us here in the first place, reading about the pirate ship playground. Views over the beach are really nice and the beach itself is also very clean and nice. If you park your car in one of the side streets of the main streets there's not even a...
Read more09.09.2020 So we were at the beach and thought of having a few drinks. The waiters were prompt however the drinks took some time to turn up (but we enjoyed the views). Drinks ordered 1x chai latte : more milk than tea, couldn't even smell the chai and to be honest it was pretty bad. 1x caramel latte : seems there was only 1x espresso shot in it (should have 2). We had to go to the bar to get this fixed and also to get sugar which we had told them about 1x leifmans beer - no issues, was cold and fresh 1x mint tea - if you consider a bunch of mint in a glass of hot water, well this was it. It was in no way a mint tea. Overall a very poor experience and not cost effective for what you get. I suspect their food is better but we didn't...
