Just discovered Karaka Bay this year its a perfect place to swim when the tide is in. it gets deep as soon as you get into the water. It is literally 5mins away from Mission bay minus all of the people. It is a bit of a steep walk down a paved path but if your able you'll be fine I do suggest...

Lovely secluded beach. Traffic free - no road access, a steep path to get there but worth it. Tidal so need to go near high tide...
