A great beach to relax, swim, or picnic. It is a wide and sandy beach with plenty of adjacent grass and shade trees to get a break from the sun, if you need it, or to relax in a blanket for a picnic. There is a public restroom easily accessible in the center of the beach. A few restaurants and bars are located on adjacent Tamaki Drive. There is plenty of free roadside parking. We especially like going down to this beach area for long, relaxing walks along the beach and the ocean on the wide walkways. A lot of people bike along these paved walkways, too, and families bring their kids with their bikes or strollers to enjoy the time together outdoors. You can walk from here along the walkway about 10 or 15 minutes to Mission Bay beach, if you would like a bigger selection of restaurants, bars, carry out, and ice cream/snacks, etc. Definitely one of our favorite beaches in the Auckland area!

Kohimarama Beach is my favourite beach in Auckland. It’s between Mission Bay and St. Heliers Bay. Along the footpath, I could feel the lovely breeze and hear the waves crashing the rocks near the beach. There were quite a number of people running, jogging, walking and cycling on the footpath and cycling path, but I could still enjoy the tranquility and beauty of Kohimarama Beach. Several lovely cafes are on the opposite side of the beach and footpath. I would love to visit them sometime next week. I highly recommend you to walk along the beach if you live in Kohimarama or happen to drive past there.

We visited Kohimarama Beach as the summer is quickly coming to an end, and it was a lovely way to soak up the last bits of sunshine. The beach itself is beautiful, with calm waters and a relaxed atmosphere. The community around the area is friendly, adding to the welcoming vibe. There are convenient facilities like changing rooms and toilets nearby, which make the visit even more enjoyable. We also appreciated the outdoor shower to rinse off after swimming. Plus, the on-street parking is close by, making it easy to access the beach without hassle. Overall, a great spot for a day out!
