Spit Roast Catering Company — Attraction in Howick

We never had food from them before and I saw some good reviews online so we expected some decent food, but unfortunately we were very disappointed in the quality of the food. The salads were less appealing than supermarket salads and meat was dry. For example, the bean salad was literally just canned beans mixed together, the fresh salad was really basic and the pasta salad was really mushy and overly saucy with a bitter taste. I was told that their salads are made by the same company which provides supermarkets with their salads but were much more disappointing than those. For the dry meat, were explained that travelling time for them to deliver to the venue and another max. 1 hour before eating would have added to the "cooking" time of the meat though which we should have realised, but overall really poor value for money. I wish we got some sushi and Subway platters instead. We threw out more than half of the food as it wasn't consumed by the hungry guests. The company was receptive to our feedback and on the plus side they were punctual with the delivery, but at the end of the day we still wasted around $1k which is a lot of money to throw in the bin :-( They explained that you're really just paying for the convenience of having the food delivered but do yourself a favour and look at other options. Sorry for the feedback, just wish I saw this type of honest feedback first...

THE BEST CATERING I HAVE EVER HAD! I ordered from Spit Roast Catering for my daughters 5th which was on the Saturday that just passed (14th September) and the food was phenomenal! Moist, fresh and delicious! I asked for the food to please be delivered by 5:30 and they were there at 5:30 on the dot! The parking at my venue was hard to get through (didn’t know at the time) but the person that managed to deliver was able to arrive on time AND helped me setup. The amount of compliments I got from my family for the food was amazing too! The amount they give for each person was huge & they provided utensils, napkins, serviettes, rubbish bags, plates and dishes for the food as well as amazing service. Food is always a big part of birthdays esp with my islander family and the food from here was the absolute best. Thank you so so so much to the staff for the amazing food&...

Yesterday I enjoyed, for the first time, the feast provided by Spit Roast. It consisted of meticulously presented hot roast pork with yummy crackling, a variety of freshly made salads, crispy bread rolls with separate butter - and all the dips, condiments and extras to make this into a perfect meal. I'm something of a foodie, so can be a bit critical but there was absolutely no complaints whatsoever about this truly delicious meal.
