Visiting The Agrodome in Rotorua, New Zealand, was an unforgettable experience that I highly recommend to anyone exploring this beautiful country! 😍 As soon as we arrived, we were greeted by the friendly staff who made us feel right at home. The picturesque farm setting is absolutely stunning, with lush green fields and rolling hills providing the perfect backdrop for a day of fun and learning.
The highlight of our visit was undoubtedly the Farm Show. It was fascinating to see the skilled sheepdogs in action, herding the sheep with such precision. 🐑 The live sheep shearing demonstration was both educational and entertaining, giving us a real insight into the life of a New Zealand farmer. We also got to meet and feed some of the farm animals, which was a hit with both kids and adults alike!
After the show, we took the Farm Tour, which was a fantastic way to explore the expansive grounds of The Agrodome. 🚜 We hopped on a tractor-pulled trailer and were taken on a journey through the orchards, where we learned about various fruit trees and the sustainable farming practices employed here. The tour also included stops at the animal enclosures, where we got up close and personal with alpacas, llamas, and even ostriches!
One of the unique experiences offered at The Agrodome is the chance to try your hand at milking a cow. 🥛 It was an interesting and surprisingly fun activity that added an extra layer of authenticity to our visit. The on-site café provided a delicious selection of local produce and homemade treats, perfect for refueling after a busy morning.
Overall, The Agrodome in Rotorua is a must-visit attraction that offers a perfect blend of entertainment, education, and hands-on experiences. 🌟 Whether you're a solo traveler, a couple, or a family, there's something for everyone to enjoy. Don't miss out on this quintessential...
Read moreI never knew there were so many breeds, sizes, shapes and styles of sheep! And I doubt he has one of every kind available that are out there. VERY wonderful on-stage performance, filled with facts, fun and audience participation. I especially enjoyed the dog-herding performances on the stage. I never knew they could be used to herd ducks; but then again, I did have a border collie who loved alerting-on and chasing the birds. I always thought she was just a little mixed up, but I guess they all have their own instinct-niche in life. Downside - the guy's microphone was not very good and most of us could not hear all he was saying; thus the only reactions he was getting was from the foreign tourists who were listening to interpretations thru earphones.
Outdoors he entertained us with the sheep-dog performance of herding up a three-some of sheep and coaxing them over a bridge and into an awaiting pen. Downside - Afterwards, I tried to tell the guy about a wonderful rescue-shelter dog I was fortunate enough to adopt. This border collie turned out to be a fully-trained sheep or cattle dog. He sloughed it off like it wasn't that impressive. I guess if it wasn't about him....
This is a wonderful place for both children and adults, those who have never seen, nor touched, a live sheep before, as well as those who have raised or taken care of them. We all learned something new.
Note - this was an included activity with the tour group I was with, so I do not know prices of tickets, should you pre-buy or buy at the door, etc. You do have to provide your own transportation out to the farm, and I am not sure if the public buses come all the...
Read moreIf you love animals, this place is for you. The experience is wholesome and somewhat therapeutic. During every stage, taking pictures and videos are more than welcome.
It begins with getting your entry tickets at the reception and walking down the hall to the farm show, where you’ll be seated to enjoy a well choreographed stage show of well trained farm animals including sheep, dogs, ducks and baby goats to name a few. They provide headphones attached with the seat to translate the live show. Kids get an opportunity to volunteer and feed baby animals on stage. By the end of the show, everyone is welcome on stage to pet the dogs and different variety of sheep on stage. The baby animal nursery is at the same building, after the show you can go visit them. Then the tour continues with a farm tour. The guide drives a tractor with the tour group sitting on a modified trailer with seats and restraints. They drive through animal paddocks, stopping at certain points where the group gets to step out, feed and pet the animals. Food is provided by the guide but remember you are at a paddock, your shoes will get dirty and covered with poop. The animals know food is coming so they will come to you like a bunch of puppies. Towards the end of the tour, you’ll get to taste the local honey and park up where you began. Luckily is a show washing station where the tour ends to recover what’s left of the dirty shoes. Overall the farm is functional and not just for show, it’s definitely worth the visit and priced...
